Thoughts about the interview?
Is there something you would really want to see in the interview which wasn't commented, what are your thoughts about things were commented?

I personally was a bit disappointed that endgame apparently always will be PoE 1 endgame, because in power fantasy you have to become a god eventually. I would prefer to have a power fantasy about player's skill, where player can become a god by polishing his gameplay.
But overall, I'm glad that all the most annoying things for me were covered and will be changed soon. Like, towers or some OP one-shots. They didn't mention on-death effects though, I hope they just forgot to mention and they will be treated, will see. |

" I don't think PoE, or any Diablo-clone ARPG for that matter, will ever be that since the player-progression in these games is so incredibly dependant on equipment. You will always be able to out-gear and trivialize any content with the right combination of skills and items, unless they introduce content that specifically prevents this which would make players rage, rightfully so, since the whole game drilled this relation into them. I mean, in a way knowing about these interactions and being able to implement them is a playerskill in itself, but that's obviously not the kind of skill you mean. I don't want to sound condescending with this "PoE is just not for you"-bullshit that you read on this forum all the time. I just don't see a way how PoE could actually be a game about mechanical skill. If you want that, I suggest being excited for Monster Hunter: Wilds. I sure am. That game will be a blast. " I thought PoE 2 will have good things from both worlds — farming powerful items but also requiring gameplay skill to utilize that power. But I guess, with PoE 1 playerbase this is not possible indeed. Maybe some other company which doesn't have such burden will try to make it one day. I guess, "No Rest for the Wicked" was an attempt to combine those two worlds, but judging by steam numbers, wasn't successful. " Looks interesting. Kind of hard to understand though, what kind of game it will be. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Jan 13, 2025, 3:43:22 AM

Personally i'm disappointed about their stance on deterministic crafting.
They stated that they don't feel like the game needs that feature and that we're probably going to be stuck with this slot machine system. They'll add other mechanics but as far as i understand they will heavily relies on rng too. So we won't probably have targetted affix crafting or similar stuff. That was a heavy blow for me... we will see how it pans out |

" They clearly stated that there is a fine line between randomness and determinism which they want to pursue, and that obviously atm crafting fully skewed into randomness which they are planning to change later after adding new content. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Jan 13, 2025, 5:44:00 AM

With regards to ES changes, ive always wondered why bleed didnt take away from ES. Poison on the other had is chaos damage. Bleed is a physical damage. CI should negate poison damage and not bleed damage.

I was disappointed there are still keen on the 1 death and you lose access to content mechanic.
I was never going to attempt arbiter with only 1 attempt, so that change is nice. But I'd still like more content where dying once doesnt revoke access to it. Give me a -50% xp penalty or whatever, but let me just enjoy playing risky! |

" it would really have been necessary to provide even a brief update on the future of PoE1 and the timetable for 2025. Even if, in the end, it wasn't totally respected. At the end of the interview, you get the feeling that GGG doesn't really know its own game, and that they're simply saying that they're going to investigate the problem, and that they're trying to hide the fate they have in store for PoE1. This makes the current situation frustrating both for PoE1 fans and for all PoE2 players who were waiting for more concrete information before committing themselves to the game.
