Make ACTUAL ascendancy trials

GGG can't do that. Diablo IV did it with the "Paths" of each class... at around level 15 each different class get a specific quest to unlock their signature abilities.

So, is a no no in PoE 2 make anything specific for each class or each ascendency.

Yeah, Diablo IV was pretty lazy on that end though (the entire game could be somehow described as a bunch of lazy decisions, but I digress). Each class had a specific quest to unlock their "class specific" mechanic at level 15, but it's the same regardless of how you build the character.

GGG could do it, but they probably won't because reasons.

Agreed.

But, at least cater to the game lore.
Regardless of class, we all have to face and defeat the same content all throughout the campaign, so I don't think ascendency needs to be tailored to each class BUT sanctum and ultimatum can both burn in hell where they belong.

Just bring back labyrinth and izaro. Don't fix what aint broke.

"lazy decisions" that made a fun game.

You know, one without exp penalties, one where you can skip the campaign to actually PLAY seasonal content or just not fall asleep because you're doing the same worn-out content for the 50th time on a new character, one where you achieve everything you want to if you simply put the time in and are good enough rather than being a card-carrying masochist to push through it. One where there is an armory, free respecs, mounts, tons of end-game content instead of just "mapping", etc. etc. etc. etc.

The sad thing is: Blizzard is a horrible development company.

So... where does that leave GGG right now?

"reasons" is right.

The ascendancies in POE 1 were just as broken...

Totally lazy development and one-size-fits-all "trials" that really tested nothing about your ascendancy... where people had to change their builds to get through it instead of fine-tuning what they had in order to satisfy the trial since it was tailored for their specific ascendancy's strengths.

Yes, but D4 had many issues at release though and not much content either. The only endgame content was trying to hit NM100 dungeons and maybe uber Lilith. We had to find the Lilith statues with every character to unlock additional skill points and Paragon points. IMO, the overall D4 gameplay loop is better since Loot Reborn.

Still, I agree that not having to go through the campaign with every character makes it possible to level up faster in D4, or at least level up by using the means the player enjoy the most instead of repeating the campaign and doing the same quests over and over again. This is partly possible because D4 has monster scaling. It also means that in D4, we can engage with seasonal content as soon as possible too.

As for GGG, well, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for PoE2. It's Early Access/Beta and while they can't change the way the game is at its core, they obviously can add or tweak some things before and after release.

For one, I would really like if we could skip the campaign in PoE2 if we already completed it first in a prior league. GGG could simply find a way to add more league mechanics to campaign maps if you skip the campaign, unlock every map/waypoint and put an NPC somewhere in town that gives us every "consumable" that increases our stats at a particular level (or pit us against bosses in an arena so that we can unlock them without having to roam/backtrack every map). Repeating the campaign and every notable sidequest/boss over and over again is such a chore.

But all that won't change the fact that trials could have been so much more... ;)

Sekehemas drops jewels and rares.

Items and currency seem high in chaos too.

Soul cores are overpriced rn.

Sekehemas just stack honormax and honor resist you'll get it done. Don't take random afflictions and maybe you have to do a couple because of rng.

Trial of chaos seems harder to me

Lab was never as bad as these garbage leagues.

...click thingy, wait for sliding doors, run through the hallway, wait for monologue, wait for sliding doors, wait for timestop and some more monologue, travel down the elevator, travel up the elevator, pull lever, run through the hallway, wait for sliding doors, hallway, monologue, sliding doors, elevator down, elevator up, hallway, sliding doors, elevator down, monologue, elevator up, sliding doors, hallway, elevator... GET FKIN REKT BY THE BIRD!

Sanctum is good, fast and fun. Makes more fun than the Labyrinths for me. Well done GGG.
We'll have 36 ascendancies; there's no way this is an economically viable solution

With the development time of making 36 ascendancy trials, they could work on stuff that would be applicable for a much larger part of the player base with the total combined time
