The current state of "Crafting" Is killing my enjoyment in this otherwise amazing game that I love
I find it very funny to read all this talk about "crafting" in PoE2.
I have yet to see any of it. All I see is "Gambling". PoE1 had targeted Gambling (sometimes VERY targeted) and a literal Crafting Bench. PoE2 has Slot Machines. Amazing how easy it seems to be to confuse the two 😁 |

PoE 2 has crafting?
GGG has defenitly a gambling addiction problem. Sorry to say. And some of them might even need professional help with this problem. PS: there is just one part which might even considdert somewhat of craftin: puting runes into slots. The rest? 100% pure cambling addiction. Last edited by Schakar#4083 on Jan 7, 2025, 8:32:17 PM

" Yes and sadly it is going to be an addiction that I cannot partake in because I do not feel any enjoyment from it. I don't even experience any of the "addiction" part, I just feel udder disappointment and anger and everyday that I spend hours upon hours farming for gear or currency to buy gear and end the day with absolutely no progress towards said gear, and just some more currency.... well, I end most days telling myself I need to give up on the game and call it quits. This is not a joke, I end every night very disappointed and disgruntled, telling myself I am stupid for putting so many hours into a game that does not respect my effort or time spent. And don't get me wrong, I love the game and I am fully aware it is in EA at the moment, and I'm more than happy and willing to give it some slack in hopes that they will improve on the system in the near future... I am not hating on the game or saying it's bad at all, this is just how I feel at the end of the day after hours upon hours of grinding with no reward or results other than some more currency (Which I can eventually use to finally buy a better item) But I don't want to just mindlessly farm for currency in order to buy items, I would also really like to be able to make some of my own awesome items that maybe I can sell to people also!! DISCLAIMER; After telling myself I need to quit the game and that I'm wasting my time on this endless hunt. I of course come back to the game without mere hours. (Yes I know you may consider this the "Addiction" part, but it's not the crafting or item hunt that I'm addicted to, it's the gameplay it's self, I do love mapping and playing poe! and I also have a few hundred hours in poe1 so I am not a noobie to poe Last edited by smokesnugsYT#7752 on Jan 7, 2025, 9:43:01 PM

"Crafting" to me has something to do with:
- an idear of a complet product. Hammmer, Staff, Armour, whatever - a clear way to get the product. Need a pice of wood, some lether, metal, whatever - something like an IKEA manual how to combine all the materials - FIX OUTCOMS! Sure, it can be depending on quality of used materials, talent and training a Axe which fell appart after one hit or become the next legendary purple clowing dream. The point is I have a big impact by training my talents how good the Axe very likely becomes. With just a slight variance of maybe +-1 with a tiny chance for the top outcome. Slamming some currency with a chance to get: Result = (number of affix + number of suffix) * average nummber of tiers is just GAMBLING! WITHOUT any influence the outcome through any form of talent/training. Branch-craft was TRUE crafting. Essences had been one of the closest to semi-crafting as you could after all get at last 1 out of 6 values with a fixed outcome. But with the remove of Essenc-Tiers GGG nerfed it to hell :(. Havest was pritty good too (depending on patch *g*). I do not know if it is Chris, Jonathan or Erik. But one of them has defenitif a gambling addiction problem :(. |

Yeah, crafting in this game is just a multi-step dice gambling game.

If I was going to implement an actual crafting system in the game, here is how I would do it:
1. Player starts with a base item (white) and depending on the tier of the base item, that gives a certain amount of slots depending on if they upgrade it to magic or rare. 2. The player upgrades it to a magic item with 2 available slots 3. The player can then upgrade it to a rare that would have, depending on the tier, 3/4/5/6/7 available slots As far as adding the stats onto the item, the stats themselves would be limited in number and only allow for "basic" stats, things like attributes, resists, skills, movement speed. And when you add a stat to the item, the value of the stat would be determined by the item's level and be within a range of values. This could be done at the reforging bench and use a mix of essences and currency. This would allow the player's character to progress even if they are not finding anything on the ground or in the shops that they can then use. And speaking of those items, equipment from vendors and drops would have both the "basic" stats as well as "advanced" stats such as magic find, increased/decreased durations and so on. |

It's as simple as this to me. Alteration orbs make crafting fun.
PoE 2 crafting is not fun. Sticking with PoE 1. PoE2BAD |

379.6 hours to get my 1st DIVINE ORB DROP... boo hoo on your randomized stats...
