[SANCTUM SPOILER] Yeah, I Think I'm Done

Making sanctum into a mandatory thing for your ascendancy is legit insane. Sanctum has always been disliked by most people (I've never heard anyone say they enjoy sanctum in poe1, only the free currency)

surely its just a placeholder during EA and we'll get an actual ascendacy system.

By the way, this is what my screen looked like when I beat Maven & Sirus in 2 attempts:

Welcome to PoE2, a game that doesn't get fully trivialized and face rolled by layers and more layers of years worth player power.
That being said you do just have to better for now to beat the content, but I'm sure just like Sirus this content is going to reach the point of being outdated and not on par with player power.
Just gotta be patient, or get better :)

Are you ok? have you played the game? watched a single stream? archmage and stacker builds are literally more broken than anything in poe1... You're completly missing OPs point.

He just saying the same mantra without paying attention what is actually going on.
On Probation Any%
It's terrible. I posted here on the forum some time ago. I've been playing POE since 2013, and when they introduced the Ascendancy system, I thought the labyrinth and its mechanics were really cool. I was expecting that for POE 2, they would create something equally grand, like labyrinths, challenging bosses, and specific trials for each class. But no—they lazily decided to take poorly executed leagues that no one played (at least in poe 1 they are optional), make a few minor changes, and shove them down everyone's throats.

If this is supposed to be a joke by GGG while the game is in early access (BETA), it's already in very bad taste. I started playing POE 2 without watching anything—just me and the game, like back in 2013. But when I got to the Ascendancy part and saw the Sanctum mechanic, I turned the game off and only came back a week later. I can say it was disappointing.

I’m still playing, but I won’t do Ascendancy. I'll keep playing as far as the game allows without it, creating new classes until I’ve tried them all. After that, I’ll quit the game and wait for the final release. If the terrible Ascendancy mechanics persist, I’ll be forced to stop playing POE 2 entirely.
After doing Trial of Sek for my 3rd ascendancy and buying some relics to help, I decided Ultimatum is the way. Ultimatum boss is easier and more forgiving than Trial of Sek boss. Also doesn't have a 1 shot mechanic that insta kills you if you mess up.

10 level of Ultimatum is also quicker than 4 levels of sekhma...

The only issue though is that you need 3 fragment pieces for Ultimatum. You can teleport out at the end of ultimatum, go buy them and them teleport back in and slot them in for the final boss. That's what I did.

dont really understand what your guys problem with the ascendency mechanics is, besides the numbers being off. this whole game is one big numbers check. gear check, surviveability check or knowledge check. sekhema is a move speed, dps and knowledge check. chaos trials is mainly an aoe damage check. if you cant do the mechanic improve the numbers and come back. i understand sekhema sucks for melee, i got roflstomped on chaos and needed to redo my whole build to do it. i got roflstomped on maps, needed to redo everything again. but as i said thats basically the video game? so what really is the issue?

im not a poe1 player but sekhema was basically my highlight of the the 3 vanilla acts, maybe you dont like the affliction, node selection system? else, it seems to me, this is the same as any other content: if you cant do the content you make the numbers go bigger until you can.
Sanctum was never well received since it's been implemented.

If you're going to force people to do it, at least make some of the afflictions less impactful, or offer more chances to remove the afflictions, or make boons more abundant and directly counteract them. Also, don't allow 3 afflictions to be the only choices. Some people just get forced to pick a run ending affliction because that is literally the only path they can take.

These mechanics should be fun and rewarding. It feels like they took the "annoying but almost rewarding" stance on most of these mechanics in POE2.
Well I bussed floor 4 many times. He is not that hard, if you fight him 20 minutes your build is wrong/weak equipment.
Ascendency is a gear/build check. You're going about the issue entirely the wrong way. This is obvious when you look at how many people have completed 4th ascendency by now. The problem is with something that YOU are doing, in regard to either build, gear or strategy... likely a combination of the three. I don't have a meta build and it took several tries to get the 4th one. That's just the way it goes and the way it should be.

If it's taken you numerous attempts that's telling you that something about what you are doing is wrong. What you should be doing now is looking for how you can improve your build & gear.

Yeah, I get what you are saying, but here's the problem: The game lacks scaling for a lot of things. I was playing a Warcry Corrupting Cry build. Single target damage was abysmal for late game content. Yet there's nothing else I could have done to increase its DPS. At best, it probably had like 10-15k DPS or so. Compare this to PoE 1, where I can make the same type of build and have it reach over 2M DPS. Literally the same thing, just spamming a Warcry. And it technically plays much better in PoE 2, but the ceiling currently is just extremely, abysmaly low. And the only difference between the two? PoE 1 has more damage nodes on the tree, better gear affixes and more gem availability.
