An open letter to everyone participating in EA - Feedback Etiquette!
And speaking of improving, I do want to point this out too:
This is already much better than it has been these past two weeks. While their are definitely still anger filled threads, people are giving direct feedback about systems. So I still have plenty of confidence this is going to work in the end. Last edited by DErdrick#4310 on Dec 24, 2024, 4:56:46 AM

" Yes, which is also why I felt it was okay to buy a supporter pack. They're no longer the small indie GGG obviously, but that doesn't change their track record. I don't always enjoy every league - Settlers, Sanctum, and Necropolis among those - but I'm confident that GGG will keep innovating and it's upon that basis that I support. I don't have to like all the seasonal content. That said, it's somewhat worrying when the base game is so startlingly different in feel. Similarly, it's hard to take a step back and tell myself, despite having played PoE for so long, PoE2 is different, and I need to respect the content (lol). Some of my initial frustration absolutely revolved around trying to make a jank build in a new environment - that's on me. But there's also aspects beyond that, that aren't. " " very salient points | |
" Thanks DErdrick. Good post and some good hints. That's what I want to express. It's important that people voice their frustration, because that's feedback. But it's also important to think about HOW to use that frustration for feedback. If someone says "GGG, for me, the trials are a horrible experience. And the reason for that is..." is way more useful then "GGG WENT BLIZZARD MODE, DOESN'T LISTEN TO PLAYERS, DOESN'T RESPOND AND THEY'VE MADE THE WORST CONTENT EVER IN AN ARPG". There is not much to learn. The former is proper feedback, which can be analyzed und used to alter the game. The latter is simply a rant with no real feedback. Our feedback shouldn't focus on our emotions towards the game. It should foces on the details that lead to these emotions. Being frustrated is an emotional condition, but GGG needs to know what about the game brought you into this emotional condition and what they actually could change to make the game more enjoyable to you. This doesn't guarantee that GGG will do it, but I think a rant has less chance of changing the actual game then actual reasonable and constructive feedback. " I appreciate the response but did that address a single point that I was making?? As far as I can tell, outside of the first few acts, PoE2 isn't actually harder than PoE1. Even early on PoE2 is only hard due to dodge-or-die and that's generally only a problem for builds that are put into more dangerous positions by nature [melee] but don't have the move speed, mitigation, or recovery yet to erase any problems. By the end of act 2 [or maybe once you can defeat the "monkey with a rock" in A3] those pressures don't seem nearly as large. |

My honest feedback is that POE2 is an utter disaster that shouldn't exist. It's measurably worse than POE1 in almost every single way that matters and it's deeply unfun to play. Their attempts to reinvent systems has made everything they've touched worse and I am disgusted.
I am angry that this atrocity exists and I am furious that it has negatively impacted their superior product POE1. I am sad that every place that was dedicated to POE1 is now split and filled with content that I do not want to see. Do not ask that I say nice things when none are deserved. I do not intend to sugarcoat my feelings. Every time I look at steamcharts and see that POE2 has less players than before I celebrate. I am steeped in disgust and loathing. |

" The real question is: If something is evocating emotions like "unfun", "disgust" and "angriness" and on the flip side, you are happy if it's not successful, then why are you investing so much time in this game at all? PoE1 still exists, many players are happy with PoE2 and it seems to definitely not hit your taste at all. What do you gain by spending so much time with this game? Why not go to the game you find superior in any way (PoE1)? I just don't understand why some people, who don't like anything at all about this game, invest so much time criticizing it actively here and seemingly waste alot of time here. We both know, that this game will still change to some degree, but very likely not so much, that you suddenly start to like it. So any minute spent here will not make your life better and that time could've been spent on something that is fun for you. When I read your text, I thought: "this doesn't sound healthy at all". |

" I did this as well played a jank build (my own) I did not look at guides and still have.. when I hit 85+ to 89 I struggled to complete t14-15s horribly I think I spent the whole second week of release at 89.. I died roughly 170 that week mapping and never leveled.. I was burnt out beyond belief and right before I was about to quit....I decided to respec one last time... this time removing all my defenses pretty much besides res and life and going pure DPS/Control.... and now... well now I am enjoying endgame again... haven't died from level 89-94.. im lovin' it. |

" Ppl need to stop using that nonsense though. PoE1 has been impacted for years with shallow leagues and delays. Current Settlers league is expected to be lasting 6-7 months, probably more depending on the work for PoE2. Now, you can pretend you don't understand. But we already see that with PoE2, with ppl complaining "where is ggg" while it's holiday season, like 3 weeks after the launch. Think 2 secs, what would happen to the player base if PoE2 had no change happening for the next 6 months. For some smartass to then come and say "Why are you not happy/playing ? I thought you loved the game ?" |

" It's not an excuse. PoE1 is supposed to keep running, even though PoE2 is now here. And Settlers of Kalguur is one of the best leagues GGG ever has released for PoE1 and is very well liked by the community. On top of that, much previous league content is still within the game (which also makes the game to complex for many newcomers, especially the whole crafting system). And yes, GGG is also creating a new game, so it's understandable, that PoE1 gets a little break during this EA phase. " I think there is a problem with overestimation when it comes to the term "people". From my perspective, most players that play PoE2 are not participating here in the forum at all. They just play the game. What we see here, is a small portion of the whole playerbase. And mostly those, who are not satisfied with some aspects of the game. And only a small number of these people seem to dislike the whole game. Yes, I can fully understand that people want more words and activity from GGG. But they just released PoE2, they clearly said they are on vacation now and I think that some people from GGG still look at the metrics and plan the next steps, after holiday is over. What I don't understand is, why some here are so impatient. I think that impatience would only be deserved, if we knew, that GGG is not on holiday and still does nothing. Even they deserve a time off. " And why do you think, PoE2 will not change within the next 6 month? I never said people shouldn't give feedback or that the game shouldn't change. Feedback and development/change is important during EA. But I think the way players give feedback is also important. It needs to be constructive and not full of hate. No one takes you serious, if your post is just full of hate and no constructive feedback at all. It also doesn't help to discuss feedback in a healthy manner. That's all I'm asking for. Does it ever occur to you that people are complaining for a reason? You want people to tip toe around to spare others' feelings? If you want players to just talk positively or not complain about all the issues then not much is going to get done and it will be looked at as a non-issue. How can anyone hear you if you don't ever say anything?
Here's my feedback, the game is not fun to me. It's slow, boring and lacks too much of what made PoE 1 good. 🔷🔶🔰🌀✨Standard>Leagues✨🌀🔰🔶🔷
🔷🔶🔰🌀✨Make trade like the Grand Exchange from RuneScape✨🌀🔰🔶🔷 Let us zoom out more. Bring back 32:9, Heist Alt Quality Gems, Gear Enchanting, Prophecy, Metamorph & Crucible. Stop removing content from the game. Stop nerfing everything. Stop making the game slow |
