The story isn't good, even as a walmart version of a D2 retelling. Once I realized Act I was basically Tristram, the hooded figure was a mix of Deckard Cain and Tyrael, and that we wouldn't be getting the horadric cube in an act 2 thats only redeeming part is the artwork on an incredibly badly optimized slave barge and Act 3 was just ancient temple poison enemy mumbo jumbo I gave up caring even in the slightest. Then you jump the shark with time travel.

My tl;dr is: Provide options for the consumer so that they can choose how they want to have fun. If people want to replay the campaign? Awesome. More power to them, let them. If people don't? Don't force them.
Story seems fine. (The Hooded Figure) AKA: Sin carried a seed of the beast, a creature that absorbs the power of the gods and puts them into an eternal slumber. The beast is also the source of all thaumaturgy. (Think magic)
In PoE 1, We defeated the beast (Mostly) By defeating Malachai. The beast was being suppressed and sealed within a mine (Thanks Niko).
In Poe 2, We are the same as PoE 1, We have committed a crime and sentenced to death by hanging, but our rope happens to snap and we kinda want revenge.

Two or three areas into act 1:
The Hooded one is introduced, hanging from a tree, which is where he was left after being impaled to the tree and having the seed stolen.
The Goal of act one is to help restore sins power, where we find out that he has unwillingly allowed someone to capture the beast and we can still stop it. During act 1 we find and kill the executioner that was to pull the lever on us and the beast caged and being fed by Ogham (Revenge, Woo), and Oriana (The Woman that dips during the fight with the beast)
End Act1.
Act 2 seems like a bit of a filler act. Its clear its setting something up that we haven't seen the outcome of in act 3. So its most likely a 4, 5 or 6 setup.
But Act 2 has us meet the caravans, the caravan so happens to have a Sekhema leading it, which is the same group of people that were able to seal the beast in the mountain in Act 4 Poe 1, So they agree to help
Where we attempt to chase the beast before it gets out of hand. Unfortunetly we are stopped every time we get close.
In act 2, We find out the hooded one is Sin (Maybe TM IDK could be bait), and he made the beast initially as a way to keep the gods in check.
We collect some McGuffins to bypass a magical storm and chase the caravan with the beast on it, boarding it. Then we attempt to obtain the beast but Jamanra cuts the caravan in half ensuring the beasts escape once more.
We defeat Jamanra and head into act 3.
Unfortunately in act 3, we have little idea as to what happened to the beast and its location, so we change tasks.
Act 3 starts with us meeting Alva. Alva is from Poe 1 and has some interesting lore.
Act 3: How do we even kill the beast if we encounter it.
In Poe 1 the beast was defeated by killing Malachai who was linked to the beast to gain immortality. (Didn't really work out)
So we're praying for a way. During our little adventure with Alva we discover a gateway that allows us to teleport to JUST before the fall of the Vaal. Where Atziri attempts to commune with the beast. However the beast is a mindless husk, it has no will it only exists to suppress the gods. Anything else is just because people have forced it.
Alva gets captured by Viper and taken to Doryani This is the person who created Virtue gems (The skill gems). During Alva's capture, she tells Doryani of the future and how the Vaal falls, and who she is. Doryani is in denial.
I love the little comment Doryani makes as we start the fight. "The demon of Atzoatl" Which is us.
When we defeat Doryani he accepts the reality of what could be. Doryani decides to join us claiming to know of a way to defeat the beast. A powerful set of peoples known as the Precursors had instructions written about the beast and what to do IF it escapes and starts plaguing the lands again.
Theres story, You just dont read it because you mash though it all.
I would say the campaign is not good because I have no idea what the story is. Obviously my own fault, but I think if it was interesting I would have paid attention.
As I read others explain the story, it does sound good, maybe they need to present it better.

Campaing story is terrible. You have defeated act 1 boss, Witch and Beast ran away to Atziri desert, you instantly went after them. And, in the karavan, you knew that this Witch is a Queen there. Somehow, she and Beast were there for years, manipulating the king and cursing desert. It's even not weak screenplay - it's stupid screenplay with huge timeline issues.
Also, Sin in poe 1 was awesome character with good voice and interesting story and dialogues. In poe 2, he's just a cardboard boring character and has somekind of parody on Decard Kain voice. Poe 2 characters and their storylines much poorer compared to poe 1.
I really like this game, but I think there are some problems below, and I sincerely hope that you makers will improve it.
1. Optimization problem, as a similar competition d4, my computer is a 2070S notebook, but I can run D4 with high image quality, but I can't run POE2 smoothly. I like this game very much. Yeah, honestly I haven't touched the game in 4 days. In maps, it's Stardew Valley with explosion 50fps max.

I have an old ryzen 5 1600, 16gb ddr4, and radeon 5700XT.
Game runs very well on ultra, sometimes fps drops to 50 during some heavy action.
Are you using original launcher, or steam launcher?
I'm pretty sure game runs better on original one.
