Waystones killed my progress

"
So you wanna tell me, i need to buy waysstones to continue the game? :D

This is hilarious.

Yep, and that's why I stopped playing PoE2 once I ran out of T5 maps.

The core gameplay loop shouldn't require trading. I went through this shit already in PoE1 back in the old days of terrible map sustain (pre-Metamorph league). I don't have the patience to smash my face against a brick wall a second time.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
OP, Same here. And its the same problem POE1 had. Juice up the maps, use currency, and you still have a seemingly RNG chance at dropping maps current tier or more. You chance not breaking even and wasting that time and currency juicing it up. Some people get lucky with drops, some dont. I never got lucky.

Juice up the bosses, sure. Im still not getting a break even return on my investment.

GGG needs to understand that this is a major, major problem with endgame that they should have fixed with POE1 but its allowed to fester in poe2. I shouldnt have to perform some atlas/currency/poe gymnastics to have a chance at map drop rate. I shouldnt have to do any of this just to participate in endgame... not even kill bosses or claim good loot...simply participate. I made it here, my build is clearing maps and because of a system problem Im stifled.

It made me quit POE1 after years of play, and it'll do the same in FAR shorter amount of time if not addressed for POE2.

If youre an SSF player, you cant buy waystones. Why would the game almost force this on us?

Just increase the drop rate a metric ton. What is there to lose?

just run boss/breach nodes and - don't die, works well in ssf.

Isn't it kinda funny how so many streamers play ssf and don't run into those issues? Wanna start a conspiracy theory now that streamers get higher waystone drops?

And if your build is not strong enough to handle Breach, or isn't designed to fight bosses (both of which are design choices by GGG to encourage options), then what?

Breach is overtuned and can only be reliably farmed for any decent amount of loot by using builds designed to melt screens. Ever played a summoner? Those mobs just chew through your minions and if you're lucky to not die, the breach will close and you'll have nothing to show for it.

then kill bosses?

If your build is not strong enough to progress, MAYBE you should aim to get stronger before progressing.

Why would you want to try to push higher maps with your build if it apparently doesn't stand the challenge - also feeds into the DONT DIE part.

If you do maps with mechanics, MOST notable for bosses - then you will progress through the waystone tiers easily.

If your build is so weak that you can't do anything other than no mechanic white maps - don't expect good returns.

Pick a lower map tier, roll it and run it with mechanics. Is that so hard to understand?

Be interested in some replies as there has to be some way to sustain that I'm missing? Spamming for maps cant be the answer....can it?

I honestly dont think GGG is going to address this. They really didnt make any attempt other than an atlas passive tree in 10 years for POE1.

Some suggestions in this thread:

Have doryani sell an unlimited amount of white maps for the current complete tier that has been competed. Maybe the ocassional one-off magic or rare like Zana did.

When you die, the map is refunded in a white/normal state. The punishment for dying in the map is: You lose XP (I think its 10 or 15%? Its brutal), you lose all currency invested into that map, you lose tower influence and league mechanic influence, you lose time. But you get the waystone back to re-invest and complete.
120% is one mod on the waystone, you need to add more mods to them

No, the game babies you enough already as it is.

As you are repeating the same bullshit about 15% xp loss on death, it is obvious you haven't even made it far into the endgame at all so you don't really have much to stand on here.

For most people, including myself, the issue isnt with the ability to clear a map. The maps simply arent dropping. Drops for some people, not for others. Ive had mid-tier maps juiced to 350% and still not getting a map of the same tier simply to sustain, let alone higher tier.
