Massive FPS Drops in POE2

GGG does not care. It's been two days and over twenty related threads and reports on forums and Discord, and they haven't responded to anything yet.

The game is unplayable, the economy has crashed as well.

I would also like to see these drastic performance problems being prioritised over balance adjustments or other things they did. I think it's more important that all players can play the game at all before other things are dealt with. However, I haven't read anything about this in the bug fixes. I'm also surprised that the devs didn't discover this after 5 minutes of testing the game.
Have the issue too with grenades on mercenary... i have to configure 1080p in order to be able to play. (i have 5700x3d and rtx 3080)
Every else and my fps drops from 60 to 20 fps during grenades explosions...

Unfortunately I have to realise that I keep experiencing massive FPS drops in POE2. My computer exceeds the recommended requirements by GGG in all aspects.

Description:
The behaviour occurs mostly in combat situations with more mobs, but also in town and everywhere as soon as something appears on the screen.

Especially in the following animations: Death of a Rare Monster (Corruption comes out of the ground) FPS drops down to 28 FPS here!

Fog from boxes FPS also drops massively here, too.

This can be observed throughout the game, these are just two extreme examples.

Edit:
In addition, this also occurs massively in the Sanctum room with the hourglass, where you have to defeat waves of monsters. As soon as the first 2-3 mobs spawn, the FPS drops to <30 and it is unplayable.

Striking:
-According to Taskmanager the game only uses 6 of the 12 logical processors ("set affinity" -> all 12 logical processors are enabled)
-CPU utilisation (<40%) and GPU utilisation (often ~20%) During the game, both components are almost not used despite the massive FPS drops.
-If you want to make a comparison, I can play POE1 in 150-200 FPS without any problems.

Troubleshooting I have done so far:
-Reinstall POE2
-Graphics driver: up to date
-BIOS driver: up to date
-Tried every configuration combination in the in-game graphics settings, even at the lowest settings, FPS drops continue to occur. The settings from very high to very low have almost no influence.
-Checking temperatur: GPU(50°C-75°C) and CPU (<65°C) absolutly fine

Computer specs:
CPU: i7-8700K @ 3.7GHz (12CPUs), ~3.7GHz
RAM: 32GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
Storage: SSD NVMe m.2
OS: Windows 11

I am grateful for any advice

I had very similar issues that showed up around a week ago, before that the game ran very smoothly.
Massive micro stutters and inputlag especially during intensive gameplay or when starting an event (ritual, breach) or killing bosses/rares.

What i noticed was the shader compiling didn't seem to be handled properly and it appeared they couldn't be stored as they should.

I couldn't find any proper fix to this and i attempted to delete the shader cache, set the storage to a higher limit/unlimited while reinstalling both drivers and game (standalone and steam.)
In desperation i reformatted my system to an earlier build of 23H2 windows 11 to rule out anything else i can do.

I did also go into the bios (i'm on an ASUS mobo ) and turned off the AI Tweak , asus performance enhancement and turbo gaming modes.

The game is now back to being a smooth experience, i didn't get massive lagspikes but simple few fps drops while shaders were compiling during the 3 hours i tested.

Not sure if this info will help anyone but I know how frustrating it is.

Thank you for all the advice, I will look into it. As for the shader cache, I have a freshly installed OS so I would rule this out. Also setting the shader cache size to unlimited did not bring any improvement.

Since so many have this problem it is not on our side, we can only hope GGG fixes it soon. In my opinion, the latest hotfixes have made it even worse.
Fireball with Scattershot, Unleash works ok. No real dips. Once you stir Wildshards into the pot it spills all over the floor.

I tried different resolutions with FSR on and everything on whatever the minimum is. Still turned into a Flash animation that morphed into a PowerPoint presentation that no one wanted to watch. Then it speeds up after figuring out all the calculations and I'm usually dead on the floor.

Main culprit seems to be Wildshards. Game can't handle all the projectile calcs. Good thing I didn't spec into Psychic Fragmentation for bonus projectiles hah.
Same here, rare monsters, explosions, delirium, breach, sanctum rooms. all of that kills fps.
Same issue with op. My fps is capped at 72 which is my monitor. The odd thing is i'm getting 72fps as long as i'm in "indoor maps" like crypt, slick, seepage 1080p with high settings dlss on quality. However when i'm in an "outdoor map" like savannah, fortress etc. game decides to dip like 30-35 fps worse if i click the ritual or breach. When "anything" spawns in those maps be it a ritual, breach or even a strongbox monsters my fps dies. Interesting thing to note i came a cross a spot in a map whereas my fps was 71-72 along the way, that spot was eating like 7-8 fps for no reason. I cleared out a huge zone arround it to make sure then i started testing. No matter what graphics settings i did lowest to highest any upscaling or native resolution change, it was the same 63-64 fps constant while my cpu and gpu sits at %50~60. So i don't think the problem lies within our hardware here. Might as well a desync problem cuz i monitor the f1 graphs when i engage a large cluster of monsters my network is zigzagging like crazy while my ms is sitting at 49 (Frankfurt gateway) which is delaying my frames to catch up with the server. Hate to say this as a long time poe enjoyer D4 had superior optimization compared to this even playing with 10-15 ppl in world events. Here i'm all alone in a map one lightning arrow to 5-6 monsters bam 20 fps gone clicked the first ritual with 10 mobs dips 20 more i mean cmon man this ain't a 4k rtx immersion experience this is literally the same code as POE 1 with dlss. I know its EA and stuff but hear us out and hopefully you prio this over other things.

My rig is rtx 2070 super r5 5600x 32gbs of 3200hz ram installed on m2 obviously. All the drivers are up to date.

My regards...
Yep, having the same issues.

I play a Witch Infernalist, early game when you don't yet have much spells etc it's fine even on my GTX1080 (about 60fps on 4K no upscaling). When you start blasting fire wall and similar screen filling spells it drops to 20fps. Even on GeForce Now that runs a 4080 I see FPS dropping from 100-120 FPS (4K no upscaling) to about 55-65... Oh, and it's also very bad on the PS5, late game I'm getting well below 30FPS at 1080p and all settings to low!

GGG needs to fix this or at least tell us it's something they know of and will address some time later on.

If I remember correctly, they even said in one of their interviews that anything below 60fps on current gen consoles (PS5, Series X) is a failure. We're currently getting below 30fps on the PS5 so yeah...
