Massive FPS Drops in POE2
Unfortunately I have to realise that I keep experiencing massive FPS drops in POE2. My computer exceeds the recommended requirements by GGG in all aspects.
Description: The behaviour occurs mostly in combat situations with more mobs, but also in town and everywhere as soon as something appears on the screen. Especially in the following animations: Death of a Rare Monster (Corruption comes out of the ground) FPS drops down to 28 FPS here! Fog from boxes FPS also drops massively here, too. This can be observed throughout the game, these are just two extreme examples. Edit: In addition, this also occurs massively in the Sanctum room with the hourglass, where you have to defeat waves of monsters. As soon as the first 2-3 mobs spawn, the FPS drops to <30 and it is unplayable. Striking: -According to Taskmanager the game only uses 6 of the 12 logical processors ("set affinity" -> all 12 logical processors are enabled) -CPU utilisation (<40%) and GPU utilisation (often ~20%) During the game, both components are almost not used despite the massive FPS drops. -If you want to make a comparison, I can play POE1 in 150-200 FPS without any problems. Troubleshooting I have done so far: -Reinstall POE2 -Graphics driver: up to date -BIOS driver: up to date -Tried every configuration combination in the in-game graphics settings, even at the lowest settings, FPS drops continue to occur. The settings from very high to very low have almost no influence. -Checking temperatur: GPU(50°C-75°C) and CPU (<65°C) absolutly fine Computer specs: CPU: i7-8700K @ 3.7GHz (12CPUs), ~3.7GHz RAM: 32GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Storage: SSD NVMe m.2 OS: Windows 11 I am grateful for any advice Last edited by VÐQ#6556 on Dec 26, 2024, 5:51:05 PM Last bumped on Jan 8, 2025, 2:50:00 AM

Fireball wildshards will tank my fps from 60 to 40 or so, adding unleash drops it to several seconds PER FRAME. The game eventually speexs back up and im usually dead after everything warps i to place again.
Latest patch has made this worse. GGG your spelleffects are killing the game. Between the floor being a mess I cant see, to totally exploding my fps to zero ( while my computer is happily running at 60% ) its become unplayable. Allow us to straight up turn OFF specific spell effects so we can still use them without the visual clutter. Like I want to see everything, except fireball. Fireball KILLS my fps, absolutely destroys it. Edit, it is actually SRS causing the fps cratering. Fireball works fine, but when I have SRS on the skulls summoning and dying instantly is causing a 99% FPS loss. The last patch has made this issue FAR worse. Same with 1070ti.
Either most of ground skill effects are yet to be optimized or recommended requirements are lower than they should be. Dynamic resolution makes it somewhat playable but fighting boss or large packs with a grenadier turns PoE2 into Minecraft. Last edited by Krain1986#0054 on Dec 17, 2024, 7:13:28 AM

Having same issue: huge FPS drops from 110 to 30, when these rare mobs explode.
All graphic settings are set to minimum. Specs: Ryzen 9 3900X 32 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Win 11 Pro x64 |

" my Foreground FPS CAP is currently at 60, but I don't notice any difference. Similarly, according to my observations, Dynamic Culling has not improved the FPS although it should.
" Same for me, with dynamic resolution the game looks worse than Pokèmon Yellow on my old Gameboy Advanced.
" I had exactly the same problem with SRS, which forced me to respec into a non-minion build.
Same problem here
