Ascendancy Trials Feedback: Understanding Player Concerns

- Remove the randomness from access itself: Remove access tokens. Lock access behind levels. If you want to maintain some similarity with PoE1, only require access tokens for the final trials.

I agree with this completely I also agree with removing them completely I never liked the lab in poe 1

And one of my friends is stuck at progressing his ascendancy because he doesnt have the green quest token for trial of chaos and he is aggravated.

Which I would be to because, I am locked by a trial that I have to restart if I die.

Trial of Sanctum has to go. It's not balanced for all classes and the honour system makes it not fun or about your character power at all. I can do maps without problem, but getting hit by ranged attacked i can't see or diving snakes from offscreen to popup under me is so frustrating.


IF sanctum has to stay as a trial, if you fail on a floor you should be able to stay at that floor. Dying on the 3rd floor boss is so painful and another hour+ to slog back through and hope you don't get unlucky.



Ultimatum is ok but can we get some not awful choices to pick from? If they are going to be SO terrible they should also give a positive bonus.

make the trials optional or at least remove the honour system. im ok dying 100 times to bosses and learning patterns but being locked from progression because of these broken trials just makes me want to stop playing.
Well said. With a ranged build I got through the first Sehkima trial fairly easily, but after maybe 20 tries at the Ultimatum trial, I'm ready to shelve the game for a while. I never really messed with the Sanctum content in Poe 1, but Ultimatum was one of my least favorite mechanics.

At least the Sehkima trials blend well with the story. The Ultimatum encounter has zero connection to the story and is completely incongruous with the rest of the game play as well. One of the refreshing things about POE 2 is that you don't have massive hoards of enemies coming at you all the time that necessitate superman builds. Ultimatum trials feel exactly like POE 1 in that regard though.

100% agree with this. Great feedback and well reasoned

I really hoped ascending would be tied to something new/original or a modernised take of the old Lab. Gating it behind Sanctum/Ultimatum feels really bad. They are simply 2 of the worst/unfun mechanics of PoE.

I really hope GGG listens and will make ascending in the current trials way easier or change the whole system completely in the future.

I agree with OP in pretty much everything.

I also lost interest in playing any further after running into the first trial; i never liked sanctum, and i never liked ultimatum.

Being forced to do those mechanics just so i can turn a character into the class i want to play is really annoying and unfun, so i will find something else to do until this is changed to a more player friendly way of getting through the campaign.

This disappeared again, so I'm bumping it yet again so it doesn't disappear.
