POE2 isn't "Hard." It's unfun.

Yep, I just refunded. The game needs some polish and some real tuning. It's a severe reversal of what the original game is: POE2 is a slow, tedious, dodge fest. And worse yet, the dodge rolls don't even include iFrames. So it's not even a proper souls-like.

People say you can't just spam a button anymore, that's just not true: dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge.

Path of Exile 2: Spacebar Slayer.

I know I was getting better, as I realized I had to beat every boss on the first try, or have to completely redo the entire level every time. However, even though I was improving, I realized I wasn't having any fun at all. Instead of celebrating clearing a boss, I was just dreading how much harder the next would be. In addition, I noticed that every time I went to town, the price of better gear was more than I could afford. No matter how much money I got for clearing an area, better gear was more, and more, and more.

Game needs re-balance.

The game is like some of the worst days on a bad job. The trouble is, games are supposed to be better than any day at a job!

That's when I realized the only way to get GGG's attention was to take away the money.
If a boss takes 5-10 mins and 1 miss on a dodge roll can get you killed, what do you think will happen when you reach endgame and do encounter a boss you havent killed, maping aint gone bee like campaign gameplay you click a button and start over at the checkpoint, its 1 life if you die that map is gone have fun finding next one cause you sure aint gone get it with shards.
The boss fights all seem to be running around in circles avoiding one-shots.

The only way I won was tossing corruption in between circles.

Then I remembered we can shoot while running, but that doesn't seem to work with mouse movement.

WASD movement lets you shoot while you run, but you slow down a lot and I haven't found a strafe control that lets me actually run circles.

Not really enjoying the boss fights at all. In fact I dread them.

I had been playing D2 while waiting for PoE2 and frankly I enjoy D2 more, so far.

I'm just glad the $60 I spent (bought on website and then still had to buy on steam because there was nowhere to enter the steam code) gives me 600 points that I can use on either PoE game, because I'm pretty sure that will be spent on PoE1.

Of course it does, you just have to click and then shoot. The character keeps moving. My preferred choice over WASD, because fuck WASD in games like this (for me personally).
Gaming PC: Win 11, 7600X3D, RTX 4080, 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30, 7000 MB/s SSD, 850W, 3840x2160p 120Hz
Streaming PC: Win 11, i5-12400, RTX 4060, 32GB DDR5-6000 CL36, 7000 MB/s SSD, 450W, 1920x1080p 60Hz

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Really didn't want to do WASD anyway.
I am sure they will finetune it in the future
"Pure DPS is the best way to play on hardcore!" - No one EVER.
I’m struggling with the exact same problem. I really enjoyed the first act and most of the second, but the increasing number of one-shots and the lack of damage make the experience frustrating. I was really hyped for the game, but now I have no idea how to continue without dying every 2-5 minutes.

Progress is supposed to be part of the game, but it doesn’t feel like I have a fair chance to make any. Farming early maps just to get an extra skill point that barely makes a difference feels really bad.

I sincerely hope GGG addresses the state of the early game. I can’t even imagine what a new player must be going through. It’s disheartening to write this. :/
Having just died to a boss after 8ish minutes of fight I've uninstalled. I could probably just memorize the pattern into muscle memory and win after 2 or 3 attempts like I've done for all the other bosses. But knowing i'm going to spend another 8 minutes mostly dodging to get back to the point i died just isn't fun to me.

Its just not fun to press the dodge key for the majority of the time knowing 1 wrong dodge and i'm dead, irregardless of my stats / gems. Bosses feel like quicktime event minigames that operate outside the normal game mechanics. i'm always dreading the next one, not because their hard, but because its another pattern for multiple phases i have to memorize and if i slip up once i'll have to repeat the pattern again. None of my skills matter since i only get to cast 1 or 2 between dodging phases.

It's very punishing. Not rewarding, annoying and unfun.Enemies re-spawn,boss hp 100% after dying, dodge roll100x and wrong move and ur back to zero.
I'm also not having fun in the game. I would rather read forum posts than play, and I never do that. Having to spam space bar and run in circles until you can run in, hit the boss twice and spam space bar again isn't fun.
Having to clear the same maps to get a skill point or two, just to try and kill a boss, is not fun to me. How is this needed at lvl 6?
If they want to make the game super hard for people, then add in different difficulties and let people choose.
I don't see how they aren't going to loose a chunk of their player base. I'm a patient person and don't mind grinding for gear. I did that as a gm of a raiding guild in wow for years. I loved it. But this is just baddddd. I'm sure some of you are going to say 'don't suck', 'be better', 'go back to d4' etc etc. Not really constructive criticism. Just elitist.
For those of you enjoying the game, I'm glad. Games are meant to be enjoyed. POE 2 is not an enjoyable game for me.
