POE2 isn't "Hard." It's unfun.
" Oh, boy! My thougts, exactly! I totally agree with you. I'm so grateful that Path of Exile has remained untouched by their "vision" of the New Forever Game. |

" That's what you get for calling characters "toons" As soon as you stop doing that, GGG will buff them again |

I play with mouse and keyboard, even when I have a gaming pad. I found myself not able to continuously play for long period of time as all these key pressing/dodging gives me RSI.
The thing I hate most: 1. Monsters respawn after you die, even when you had cleared 99% of it before. 2. Many monster mods/abilities are from POE 1, which is not suitable for POE 2 due to lack of "escape" mechanism, especially large area of attack stuff. 3. The one support gem support limit resticts build freedom. 4. Ascendency utilises the most unpopular mechanics of POE 1 which baffles the mind. I am starting Act 2 but already finding it a chore to play, back to POE 1 I guess. Hope it improves at release. Last edited by R28666#7050 on Dec 14, 2024, 12:43:45 PM

I think I died to act 1 boss 20 times. And Act 2 boss took me over 50 tries. I had to play like 6hrs before I could kill act 2 boss. After that I died a couple times until having to do all the acts on next difficulty. I only died a handful of times all the way up to maps. I played a Sorc.
The first 2 acts were so difficult I thought I would never get to maps. |

I am not sure POE2 is 100% sure what kind of game it wants to be. Dying once in Maps, you lose the map? What?!?! In a game with a crap ton of one-tap mechanics, no movement skills, a terrible roll mechanic you can't die at all in a map otherwise you lose the map and your progress getting to that map? WTF is that....On top of that at a certain point you lose what, 15% experience each death? Not sure why but GGG seems to have mixed up difficult with punishing and they can absolutely be exclusive of one another...

POE isn't hard it's punishing.
Every boss boils down to pattern recognition and muscle memory so once you have a general idea of what you are doing the challenge falls off a lot. However, learning and dying (especially beyond the campaign) costing you map bonuses is an unfun punishment. There is no good reason to be as punishing as the game is in most cases, nothing for the player is gained from this. There is hardcore for those who want to play to be punished and there is core for those who just want to have fun playing an aRPG. Outside of this however the game really is kinda boring. The campaign takes a LOT out of you, especially if you've leveled multiple classes. The maps are way to big and empty and the acts drag on, only made worse by having to repeat run A1-3 over while we wait for A4-6 to come. The currency drop rate is still terrible, especially during campaign. I just finished a 2nd campaign run on a Ranger and I got a total of 6 ex the entire time. 6. When you need 3 for every item to take it to max (I know it's waste, just as an example) what the hell good is 6 across a 20 hour campaign? You are forced to rely on drops (or checking the vendor each level), not on the crafting system which is boring. Maybe they could add in exalted shards that are a much higher drop rate but only work for gear below lvl 70 or something to make having fun while crafting still a thing.
