Hard crashing PC locks up

It is crazy that after more than a month of waiting for a fix I still have to risk damaging my computer to play a game I paid nearly $300 to support
after today's hotfix I got bumped to window everything single time I switch my weapon set in map, which is part of my core build, sigh.
Still waiting bump
Hello,

It's been almost three weeks since I've been unable to play your game due to crashes during loading, which force me to restart my computer. Of all my games, yours seems to be the only one with this issue, supposedly caused by a Windows update. It's starting to be a long time since I haven't been able to enjoy my purchase, and it seems to me that fixing this situation should be an absolute priority in the near future.

Sincerely,
Latest steam update fucked the game up for me
unplayable due to crashes.
Loading into every map type even campaign maps = crash

judging by the fact it took them 2 months to deploy some kind of error reporting system, i'd say rather....

GGG need to use some of the billions of dollars they've generated to hire someone who knows what the fuck they're doing.
Windows should do something. That's not only on POE2. Got some hard crash with Helldivers 2 too since the windows update from the 28 january
I started playing PoE 1 and it has the exact same issue on my system. But luckily, the following fix still works. I haven't had a single Windows crash since implementing the CPU affinity fix, only the applications crash, but that is a minor inconvenience considering where the crashes happen game-wise (loading a new area).

I run Windows 11 Pro, Update 24H2, on a Ryzen 5 5600X with a 3080 Ti and 32 GB RAM. When loading areas, the game would occasionally freeze, hardlocking my system and requiring a reboot. I have over 80 hours played, so I clearly can play the game, but this was very annoying.

A workaround that made this less annoying for me was switching to Vulkan as my renderer (in hindsight, I'm not sure this helped at all) and then, after starting the game, changing its processor affinity by removing two CPUs from the game process. You do that by calling up the Task Manager (Ctrl+ALt+Del), going to "Details", searching for the Path of Exile process and right clicking on it.

Makes no difference in performance from what I can tell and now only the game crashes. After a few seconds, Windows terminates the process, I get a desktop and can launch it again. Not a fix, but beats having to reboot a hard lock every time.
