Hard crashing PC locks up

On linux here (NixOS), no system locking problems.

HOWEVER, one time the game completely froze and didn't respond, what I did was switch to a different workspace and kill the process from the terminal (nothing a good old "sudo pkill" couldn't solve :P)

So it might be that the workspace itself is being locked, maybe it's worth trying to Win + Tab and see if people can create a new workspace on windows and kill the process from there.

at least to avoid the computer lock.

So I used the BES CPU limiter for 10 hours at -5% on the PoE.exe and had zero crashes of any kind and alt tabbing in and out of the game was fluid where as before it was less so, I could have multiple things running in the background, no real performance hit. The problem seems to be the game maxing out the CPU which the CPU then has trouble digging itself out of it and locks up, by using the CPU limiter it completely solves the problem and improves multitasking.

Yeah.. just installed the BES limiter, also limited PoE2 at -5% and had 20 minutes later the next hard freeze.

It sucks a lot

Yeah BES worked before the recent patch. Used it for two patches, a few hours a day and no issue. First time playing after patch, it crashed within 30 minutes.

use google, any guy who knows anything about tech at all can confirm this is the case lmao since when does a complete freeze to your system so bad that you have to force restart it not damage parts? maybe not the first 30 times but if you get really unlucky it can def yeet out some pieces. has happened to me before. ssd cooked.

please man lets use some brain cells here

U didn't read the next statement. We're using test stations for years in kms development. Bug checks or hang ups don't damage your parts but the power reset / ups (initial boot sequence) MAY or MAY NOT, depending on your hardware. Your ssd cooked because the controller or your PSU were so bad that it caused unrepairable damage.

Clearly this is a issue on GGG's end.

Same question - how do you know? Do you know how user mode applications (ring 3) interacts with your hardware (ring 0)? Didn't you know they don't have direct access to the i/o ports and memory?

Still getting this and it seems a lot worse since the patch. I've tried most of the fixes except the CPU limiter and rolling back Windows.

The only thing I've found that's any use is setting CPU affinity, this at least makes it possible to kill the application rather than force shutdown.

Of course it's on GGG's side, we don't have this issue on any other game.

Lucky Linux user. Arch, Mint and even patched Nobara are also working fine. So it's around windows platform, but not limited if the roots are inside uefi or the drivers.

Because other games don't utilize some features in your system but PoE 2 does? And using them triggers certain conditions that leads to lock ups. So many users have hidden problem and kernel-level design flaw which is a root of the problem, not the game itself.

Just read how ANY user mode application interacts with your hardware, what is HAL, ring 0, ring 3, interrupts (1), system calls

Your user mode applications SHOULD NEVER EVER lead to Bug Check screens or even locks! If it happened, there is something definitely wrong with the UNDERLYING sub-systems like HAL / drivers / etc or interaction between them. The application may crash, hang, eat all of your available resources but if operating system let the application affect the critical levels (ring 0 or even lower) - it's not application's fault.

Issue still present post patch. None of the home grown "suggestions" by others in thread have worked, no matter how great it worked for 100% of their club, clan, discord, secret society etc.
+1
Tried not disabling affinity for 2 cores for the latest patch.
Still hard crashes.
