Got my first Hard Crash today after about 45 hours of play, happened in Act 1 Cruel. using 24h2 windows 11. Scared to play because I cannot afford my hardware to get damaged or bricked. fml.

Hi everyone, whilst we have already been investigating this issue already, it would be massively helpful if you could provide your dxdiag output by doing the following on windows:

run > dxdiag > save all information

and sending me that file or it's contents in a private message.

Thanks!

Same here,

RTX 4080s
AMD 7 7800X3D

Multiple crashes, more than i can count at this time.

Have been trying all of the methods out there, changing everything to default, switch to DLAA and DLSS, v-synced on locked worked for a while.

Then tried BES, worked good! But experience less performance with that, about 100 frames. Though i had BES now the game crashed again, need a hard restart.

Disabling multithreading decreeses my fps by 270 frams, which makes it unplayable.

I'm not comming back to Path of exile until this is fixed from now on. I sent you the Dxdiag.txt.

please fix this issue!
Another day of no fix. Looks like I won’t be playing tonight either.

I know it feels scary to have your whole computer lock up but please do not draw conclusions based on your emotional response. Thank you.

If you experienced a bricked component and/or corrupted files following the freeze lockup, after you made sure that it's really related to the freeze (referring again to a case that happened here), please create a separate thread to emphasize your issue.

It is not good when you need to power cycle your PC because it fully locks up, now you and anyone else can do what they like but I would imagine having your CPU freeze like this oh lets say 100 times is sure to cause some kind of hardware damage.

Especially since it seems to be spiking utilization to 100% across all cores increasing temps and power usage. Also the chance of file corruption if any updates are running in the background at the time of the crash.

I disabled "Dynamic Resolution" on graphics config and it did not crash once in a 2-hour play session. Before it was crashing every other map, 5~10 min interval.

Can someone try to replicate this, please?

Mine was never on and I have frequent crashes. I still set affinity on processors to -2 to prevent hard locks.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.

it has something to do with shader cash, or at least partially. Today my game refused to boot in town multiple times in a row. I ave cleared dx12 and minimaps in user C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2

and wuala - it worked

Thank you for passing this along. So far I've had some good results with this, but I'll have to play for hours to determine whether that isn't coincidental. In the meantime here's a .bat file to automate what you describe.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
This deletes all files within these three folders.
It also launches Path of Exile 2 by App ID.
It may be worth clearing cache in between loading zones, but I don't know yet how the game might respond to that.

del /S /Q "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\ShaderCacheD3D12\*"
del /S /Q "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\ShaderCacheVulkan\*"
del /S /Q "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\Minimap\*"
