For those who cant tank some content with ES 6k+ i just say 2 words:

ok. new patch upcoming.
2 and 3 slot charm belts being more readably available should make the game much less tedious. Light stun rework will also hopeful go a long way in how frustrating getting poked by 20 ranged projectiles will be. as well as getting swarmed. Adding ANOTHER ES stun threshold cluster by CI is a bit odd, and won't solve anything. This is the issue we talked about, where defensive passive investment comes at the price of offense. and in the current state of the game, its better to kill them before they kill you. Sceptre runes weren't unveiled yet. Last edited by Casia#1093 on Apr 16, 2025, 12:05:26 PM

" I'm taking that stun threshold passives next to CI purely because of range mobs that often interrupt casting. Also i tried to use energy barrier support on frost wall, and sometimes it was noticeable, whenever my frost wall cast get interrupted, i get ES recharge for 2 seconds. Might be better on frost bomb since i use it most of the time in maps. |

when it comes to resistances, penetration is the last modifier being applied, right? I read it somewhere that penetration comes after curses and exposures.
if that is the case, too bad then. I was thinking in using Leopold's Applause to stack a huge negative resistance on bosses for more DPS. |

yeah, I find it hard to justify energy barrier. on any offensive spell slot, that slot is very valuable.
time rift, timestop, time snap, unleash, all seem more reasonable places for it. -- Which Stun/ailment threshould cluster is best? I commented before the patch. so lets now actually compare stats and point investment. CI version. along the way to ci, invocated eff, and thinice, and lucidity. we are ALL going to be that path. no travel points. Abasement 20% inc stun recovery, 50% additional stun thresh based on ES. 8% add ailment thresh. 3 points. So this is very efficient for 3 points for sure. +2 points, shimmering mirage 50% added ailment thresh based on es, and 10% reduced ailment duration. (bleeding and poison are ailments as well.) hindered cap version. if we go to hindered cap, this one is along the way. if we DONT. this is +1 travel point. -asceticismstun thresh is based on 30% of ES instead of 50% of life. 24% add based on max es. 3 points. self mort +2 for gain additional stun threshold based on32% of max es. 20% inc stun thres, while on full life. self mort is very good, as that 20% increased is doing to multiply into any existing stun threshold. Asceticism... is bad? I can't see any situation this is better then just "30% additional stun thres based on ES." even with CI. if I have 1000 life, and 4000 ES. normally that would be 500 stun thres. 30% added based on ES would give me 500+1200= 1700 stun thresh. ascetisicm would give me 1200 stun thresh. not normally along our pathing. 2 points travel required. Eldritch will. 31% additional stun AND ailment threshold based on ES. and 3% increased life, mana, and ES. 3points. if we go over here, I should note Enchanced barrier is incredibly strong as well. 50% inc ES, 1% to all max Elem resist. --- ascetisim is the big loser. self mort is only ok considering that. Abasement is very powerful for only 3 points. |

Can I just say that I love this thread. Being able to see the thinking and philosophy behind different people's builds to this depth is something I've never experienced while playing a video game.
I know there's a lot of upset people out there with this patch, and youtube is just filled with negativity and its what gets views, but it's good to know that there are people who just want to move past those issues and find solutions and new ways to accomplish a goal. I've been taking bits and pieces of people's thinking on here and applying it to my own build and it's been extremely fun trying to get that exact right set up for my playstyle and preferences. |

Has there been any consideration given to Solus Ipse? It seems that Chronomancer is uniquely situated to take advantage of its effect, as I always feel so split as to how to split so many gems that are powerful for the class - Ingenuity, Second Wind, newly Verglas, Spell Echo, Conc Effect, the list goes on..
Is that hit to stats not worth it? -- Further, what is the consensus on an offhand Crest of Ardura as a potential utility boost? More Blinks and Convalescences (If one chooses to run them) and it does smooth out the Now and Again Frost Wall abuse. I assume it is strictly worse than the Critical Weakness unique or any other halfway decent Focus, at least DPS-wise? |

" The problem here is that the Helmet slot is damn hard to give up on rares for the sake of fitting uniques. It is literally second best slot after Body armor in terms of ES. Crest of Ardura is decent, but it severely lacks in comparison to other options for the main weapon set. It cannot beat QoL of sceptres or Damage of foci. Still can be used for the secondary weapon set exactly for CD of utility stuff. For example, faster CD of temporal rift for better mana refill, or, as you said, blink or ES recharge. Problem of this approach - higher demand on apm tho. Well, GGG said they will do class skills binding to weapon sets later. Last edited by monik390#5560 on Apr 17, 2025, 4:39:51 AM

Another option that has been overlooked is the possibility to use a Sceptre and a Focus (in this case, the Threaded Light).
I know Monik has already made some calculations in the past showing that a Wand + Focus or Wand + Scpetre would do much better DPS-wise, but in my case (SSF) it is proving to be a great option. I managed to corrupt a Threaded Light to 14% increased spell damage per 10 spirit, and with a high-spirit Sceptre, spirit chest, and passives, I was able to achieve 360 spirit, which translates to 504% increased spell damage. Even with a 12% Threaded Light, it would result in 432% increased spell. And it has the advantage of not raising mana costs. Pair it with a +3 or +2 skill levels amulet and we have a decent setup. |

Getting a bit off the topic of Cold Chrono, has anyone had any success with Chrono in other builds? I tried something with Spear of Solaris and fire spells, but I couldn’t really make it work.
