Cold Chronomancer Megathread. All content cleared. Leveling guide added. Low-budget build added.
" There is no difference between lvl 19 and 20 Blasphemy, but lvl 21 makes 40% less effect of supported curses instead of 41%. It's 1% more curse effect. Not worth it. ~~~ 22-23% quality makes 11% reduced reservation cost instead of 10% with 20% quality. I tried to corrupt my for lvl 21 yesterday but got 23% quality. With it, my total reservation for everything became exactly 350 spirit. 20% quant Blasphemy reserve 152 spirit with Temp chains/Conduct/Heightened. 23% reserves 150 spirit. 2 spirit difference. " Totally opposite on my side. I couldn't play for 2 weeks or so bc of crashes, but after some patch and new drivers it became good for me. |

For those curious,
I tried various fix I found online. I changed the command in steam to launch the game. I put the shader cache to unlimited in nvidia. I clean up the Shader Cache DX12 and the POE2 cash. I also deinstall exiled exchange 2 and stop every other program when I play. I could do 3 Trials boss with no crash. Then today, on the Breach boss, same crash happens when the loot appears. But you can portal back. So I verified the file again and tried. It didn't crash on my next run. I did an arbiter, same crash when the loot pop up and I was really worried here. But you can portal back and I got a Regalla, not bad. Since the previous hotfix, I have less crash while doing maps but with boss, it is more than half. Not sure. I never had trouble with boss in 700 hours of game. Very curious but annoying when it is on the boss loot. Which loot filter do you use? |

" Appreciate the insight, monik. Definitely not worth it. And seems I'm stuck with current setup for now, unless a decent body armor with spirit pops up on trade. Last edited by Hugh_Jaynus#9160 on Mar 7, 2025, 11:33:06 AM

So if I play SSF and I manage to get some chance orbs, what should I go for? Snakepit or the mana -> ES amulet (everlasting gaze)?

" I would say Snakepit, because without it Frostbolt won't break the walls and you won't get too far with this build. I tried messing with Frostbolt/Wall early on (before I found this thread) and it doesn't work very well. Everlasting Gaze would just give you a little more mana and some extra ES, which won't help you very much on its own. IMO the main strength of it comes when you've grabbed Chaos Inoculation and Eldritch Battery passives, which leave you with 1 HP and 0 ES. Everlasting Gaze manages to give you some ES as a buffer. If you go that route, you'll also want to grab the Mind Over Matter passive (damage taken from mana before health), otherwise you'll die as soon as your shield is depleted. I've forgotten to reselect that one a few times after respeccing and had some surprise deaths as a result :) Last edited by Hugh_Jaynus#9160 on Mar 7, 2025, 3:44:59 PM

I'm not sure how I would play it in SSF, so I can't advise on anything here.
Without Snakepit, Frostbolt is shit. Fireball is an ok alternative to Frostbolt w/o that ring. Or just Frost Bomb. Without Everlasting Gaze, I'd play w/o CI probably. It is good to have some buffer besides mana, be it life or es. So, about chancing - it's ok to play with Frost Bomb or Fireball instead of Frostbolt. Everlasting Gaze is more important than Snakepit, in my opinion. It opens better defense and makes gearing easier bc of CI. Last edited by monik390#5560 on Mar 8, 2025, 12:38:22 AM

I was thinking the same. I find no frostbolt not bad at all, really. Apart from small mobs which need frost bomb and/or ice nova, just placing the wall under mobs and having it explode works fine.
But for everlasting grace to be able to go CI + MoM I need to stack some serious mana first, right? Otherwise I'd just be wiping. |
