this is an incorrect assumption generally embraced by new players for reasons I'll never understand
there are hundreds of builds that can do all ubers and t17s with a reasonable budget. meta in poe merely exists because a large majority of the playerbase doesn't know enough about the game to be able to come up with their own builds or craft novel variations of known builds, so they just copy what everyone's doing, for this is the only way they can reach endgame without wasting hundreds of hours
there are many players who play their own builds, or at least try to come up with something on their own and not follow a guide, and it's not like these players are stuck at white maps. most of them are able to do ubers and t17s with ease. you can find many such players in the forums, on poe.ninja, on youtube and twitch. mathil is a good example
look at my build, I'm playing explosive trap of shrapnel poison pathfinder. there's only one player beside me playing it on poe.ninja, but I can easily run ubers, 40-60% t17s, simulacrum and everything else the game has to offer. I already had everything for the build planned before I created the character, and I knew that it's going to be strong. a new player can't do this, and therefore incorrectly assume that meta is the only way to go. the build didn't even cost 200 div, and it was already powerful enough for all the things I mentioned before I invested currency into it
Im going to assume your are being honest that you don't understand, vs just ego stroking. Im probably wrong, but so be it.
What you admit that you fail to understand is effort vs effectiveness.
If you spend 100 units of effort on a meta build, you can do most T17s (lets make that the standard).
If you spend 200 units of effort on a non-meta build, you can reach the same mark.
If you disagree, then you are saying no build is more efficient than any other, and Im going to assume you've never played PoE before.
Looking at your gear, you overgear the content you are saying you run, by.. I dont know, 2 to 5 the cost in divines? I am dont love this league but last league my jugg character was doing the same content on 6 divines.
What did you spend?
So, if we establish it takes you twice (or far more) the effort to get to the same place as a meta build, its exactly what I said. Other builds are possible, but the game strongly encourages a few meta builds.
Again, I doubt you really misunderstand the comments you agree come from a ton of players, obvious ego stroke is obvious.
obviously you have to spend more effort to come up with a new build, copy pasting something that's already min-maxed to oblivion is always easier. but then what's the point of playing the game if you're just playing someone else's build?
are you saying that you were running 60% delirious t17 maps and all ubers without dying on a 6 divine build? give us the pob so we can all play that build next league.
you might say that I'm overgeared for the content I'm running, but I was already running juiced content when I had shit gear. it's not like I farmed the currency for those by doing t5 maps. as I said the build cost less than 200 divs total, probably not even 150 divs, which is nothing if you're actively playing.
and you're ignoring the fact that gear for non-meta builds are always cheaper. I stand by what I said, meta isn't merely a result of effort/effectiveness, it's a result of the game being too complex for most people and consequently forcing the players to be sheep that follow the "meta". players like mathil and jungroan have proven this hundreds of times, by making anything work on low budget

As a random example of this phenomenon, behold jungroans great "meta" build of Lightning Tendrils Ignite Trickster,
https://pobb.in/W169Wqb9xiBK
16 div budget for a pretty endgame-viable char and pretty damn far away from current meta.

You are talking about resources needed to engage in league mechanics. I am talking about items. No item should be account-bound, everything must be tradable. Else, the game goes the same way D3 did - down the toilet
This is widespread misconception. D3 drowning into trivializing itemisation was not because of trade or account bound items. They've even demonstrated it statistically - first they had AH and it become overbloated because of 0 currency and item sinks in the game + trivial droprates.
Then Blizz ceremoniously blamed AH for above problems, closed AH forever and inhibited direct trade with account bound. However, they still had 0 currency and item sinks, lootrates become even more trivial with "smart loot", and unchecked powercreep was added on top of that, the famous "trillion damage". Of course it was a matter of time before this new itemisation became overbloated again, and season progression from new character to strongest endgame content took 1 hour.
Account bound items can be a useful tool, as others mentioned above. If you look closer at current D4 itemisation, it is far from trivial progression. Guaranteed mythic unique drops from uberbosses are basically the only fundamental problem remains, I think it should be removed. Other than that, when starting new season, you cannot bypass tempering your items and slowly leveling your codex, all linked to actually playing the game. No "hideout warrior" gameplay is an improvement over poe, where you struggle to farm top items yourself because of nolifer grade lootrates and dps checks, and you have to interact with clumsy trade or hand-wrecking crafting to progress.

This in far from truth, as d4 itemisation is trivial (you can unlock everything and beat everything within 1-2 days) and most of trade is handled by private discords, websites or forums, some with payed membership.
Trading looks like:
1. register account on priv discord/website/forum
2. add manually your item there or find what you’re looking for
3. contact buyer/seller on that platform, and share your battletags, often one side is offline so this can take hours or days.
4. wait for both of you to add each other and wait till both of you will be online in game - can take even days
5. meet in game and trade, expect errors as game is wonky
Trading earns 10x or more gold than any other activity in game. You can buy most powerful 3GA items (except very few items, but you can hire carries to get it easier).
Account bound would justify items from item editor? Nah. Learn to play the game and get your own items instead of asking for item editor.
Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

PoE2 launches with AH. Does this mean it will be as bad as d3?

It's much worse than a game where you only have glasscanons. The game today is built indirectly and totally dependent on large rolls on items, which makes PoE an EXTREMELY P2W game. With a 10-mirro build, you can literally do everything in the game AFK, as shown in the video above. So either you join a guild of 10~20 players, spending 20h/7d to give a carry a build like this in the first 3 days of the league (which is when GGG artificially buffs the drop for streamers) or you pay for a build like this. If you don't do this, prepare to suffer.

If you want to spread weird conspiracy theories you should probably not use a character on standard with legacy items as an example, kind of makes you sound like you dont know what you are talking about.

How is 10 mirrors pay2win? In Standard of all places. Lmao.
I'd expect a post like that from someone who only started plaiyng recently, but his account is older than mine...

Why do you need 10 mirrors to enjoy the game?
