AH killed the price fixers, it was a mistake to not add non-stackable items
" A lot of what you said is true, but this statement isn't. There is a major difference between a "market" within the game and THE market irl: and that difference is that one side of the market is almost entirely controlled by GGG. In one way or another. Supply and Demand: the supply of any given item is determined by the drop rate and content set forth by GGG. An entire half of the equation is dependent on one entity's control. This supply "value" doesn't ever change, unless GGG manually changes it. In real life, however, the supply is NOT nearly as controlled. There are barriers in place that do limit supply, but for the most part the only TRUE limiter of supply is demand, and vice versa. It is a VERY different relationship. The greater the demand, the greater the supply ultimately ends up becoming in almost every case. Translate that back into PoE: the greater the demand, the.....supply doesn't change. The rates do not change. The suppliers hardly change. There are no "new" avenues opened up on the supply side. It is clamped, gated, and controlled. Basically...it isn't "stupidity itself" thinking it should be controlled in a game: it IS controlled in a game already. And it changes the underlying rules of how the market functions because of it. Prices of items spike early on specifically because GGG have made it happen, whether intentionally or unintentionally. It's not an "unforeseen" event, like a hurricane or something irl that can temporarily disrupt a market and cause major price fluctuations. It is a more permanent, controlled change. If there is a major spike or fluctuation within PoE AFTER a certain amount of time in a new league, that typically means successful price-fixing, or major exploitation. Because it means that someone or some entity is deliberately messing with one side of the equation irregularly. Last edited by jsuslak313 on Sep 4, 2024, 8:45:40 PM

" its sometimes easy to forget that GGG controls half the equation. GGG has the numbers and could adjust drop rates accordingly. [Removed by Support]

" As exsea mentioned, it is easy to forget that Gx3 does, in a way or another, controls half the equation. I'll admit that i was shortsighted on that. I also should've elaborated more. When i mentioned unforeseeable tendencies, i meant how(insert build that becomes popular) or (insert busted discovered interaction) can alter a landscape, and gx3 can't(won't) really control that if it's within the boundaries of the game and not a bug, until the league cycle concludes and they determine that interaction should cease, then and only then directly altering the value of something, increasing or decreasing depending on how they react. I personally think it's stupid to stifle discoveries or smart interactions if something is within the confines of the law(ToS?) they set forth. Things that are trash can suddenly become valuable when things change, and they change things often and often they forget or don't consider what changes in relation to what exists, and that alters demand which alters value. That's the parallel i've made with irl markets. In fact, it happens often in trade card games. A card becomes valuable, prices spike, shops that are late and try to reject new buys to adjust the price can and are liable by law to offer the old price if it was alredy sold. And none can really control that price spike/fall. Basically demand and supply controls that, and, well... only filthy rich people can really control that, to an extent. Unrelated, on the things Gx3 has control over, improving the forum should be a #1 concern. This format in simply way too outdated. Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].
