Doesn't matter as the size and amount of money exists even if one is bigger than the other. That doesn't change the fact at all that D4 is quite a large disappointment for all the money they spent on it and all the hype they've built up over a long time, and in the end it's just a dirt cheap polished D3 with better graphics but a more hefty asked price tag.
Also barely 200k active players isn't remotely close a million players by the way.

I doubt they will. When GGG took away the original globe girls, we knew how much they wanted players to be able to enjoy the game immersion how they wished.

A tall bony witch who speaks like Daffy Duck? Count me in on those mtx items. A height challenged butterball Marauder whose chief desire is turning his enemies into culinary delights? Yes, please. An androgynous Duelist whose motivating delights and compunctions are as outlandish as their beehive hairdo? (Where else do swarming bees dwell when they are not raging?) Yes, I'd give that character a whirl or two.

If GGG is going to add options, give us lots of options, let us really customize the characters, and the UI.

I'm rather indifferent about it with a slight inclination to: This money can be used more fruitfully elsewhere.
For me, as for some others who replied here, the gameplay is important. If it is good, I don't care if my character is an old white male bible banger, a noodle-armed emaciated witch or a lesbian huntress. I wouldn't even care if it were a blob of tar (Gish), a sort of Mermaid (Aquaria), an assorted collection of apes (Bloons TD), a little pixelated girl (Alva's Awakening), Tux (FreedriodRPG) or whatever.

The only time I care about sex is... well, sex.

@Therion: also a valid point but I wouldn't make it an either/or at this point. That way lies madness in my experience -- the whole 'if we hadn't done X, we might have done Y' approach.

Buuuut going by the latest trailer, looks like they're committing the gender lock. Fair enough. Bummer, but oh well. Like I said, only the really big budget ones do gender and class selection as fully voiced, fully modelled choices. GGG might have rich parents but that in no way guarantees much of it funnels down to them -- not when, last I checked, they pay board.
