" Exactly. I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

Of the most recent leagues:
Affliction was very good. Sanctum was very good. Necropolis trash TOTA was fine but too much of a step outside the core game Crucible was meh, some fun items but nothing inspiring Favorite leagues were Archnemesis (for the mechanic and the eldritch expansion) Sentinel (recombinators, loot explosions, uber map bosses, very fun) Scourge (krangler sucked but the content was cool including scourged maps) Challenge leagues (endless delve/heist, mayhem, gauntlets) are always the most fun Last edited by Poiuytr133 on Jul 11, 2024, 2:04:52 PM

I started playing the end game at the end of Synthesis, and slowly progressed through the game knowledge and wealth wise all the way up through Crucible-Ancestor. Unironically, it took about that many leagues before I felt like I was playing the game to the fullest in terms of "finishing" builds, killing bosses, getting t0 uniques, getting to level 100, etc. Now I am at the point where it doesn't really feel like a league even starts in earnest until I have a mageblood and a full set of corrupted leveling gear (half sarcasm).
My point is that I am not sure I was even in a position to fully appreciate all the leagues and balance changes the game has offered until the last year or so. Also, burn out and perception of the state of the game have been very real factors in how much I have enjoyed certain leagues. I quit Harvest after a week, because I was burned out from Delirium and completely skipped Expedition because all the nerfs spoiled my will to play. All that said, my favorite leagues are those where it feels like I can "earn" something to offset all of the layers of pure rng in this game: tier 2000 rewards in ToTA, strategically combining rare items in Sentinel, farming all the corpses needed for a gg craft myself in Necropolis. In-map, kill things in a circle leagues get boring pretty fast. | |
Legacy.
After that GGG started regularily nerfing base player power, made yellow mobs damage sponges and keeps extending the grind to this day. When fallacious arguments aren't convincing comes the biased moderation.

Sanctum. imo.

delirium league was the last league i really liked and fully played (i think to 40/40). sentinel league was awesome in concept, but archnemesis ruined it for me and i just quit it after a week which has been the case for the last 10 leagues.

Sanctum for sure. Even though I played ruthless that league I enjoyed my time. The mechanic was optional(great), worked well(not too many bugs) and was implemented decently into the core game afterwards. Probably the best non-map league mechanic ever.

I actually liked 3.15, but the last league I felt was really good was 3.18. None since have been good. Sentinel was ok, but only after they nerfed Archnemisis mods,..... again.
Really anything 3.19 and after has been severely ham stringed by GGG's insistence of sneaking in Archnemisis. It feels really so duplicitous after a while. If it's not one thing it's been another. From god Touched, loot goblins, Magic Find gear, Archnemisis, economy implosion from Necropolis bugs, forced Necropolis mechanics, ETC, it's been a dung heap. These major issues have really just taken the wind out of any sails GGG had. They've done far more damage with these issues than any bad league mechanic could have done. Now when it comes to the league mechanic alone I would have something different to say. |
