Last best league in your opinion?
ToTA for me(honestly was my best league ever). AN before that. Ritual before that. I usually have a great experience in one league a year.

delirium was the last good league
it really sucks |

Ultimatum by far, next in line would be TOTA and betreyal.

It's wild to see so many people put ToTA as their favorite league....it was about as far non-PoE as a minigame could get. Probably the most anti-PoE any league has ever been.
Gearing? unimportant Loot? doesn't drop Character power? Essentially useless Skill ubiquity and usage? Nope Interesting builds? Nope Grind and time? Insane Do people just.....not like PoE and are too afraid to admit it? Because if TotA is a favorite, there is a whole other genre of games that do that exact mechanic WAY better. |

I think it really comes down to the fact that ToTA had an enormous amount of potential and was even fun at lower ranks, while the rewards unfortunately sucked until you got up high enough that it was cheese or uber bullying only. Additionally the game itself was in a very good state then, especially in comparison to more recent leagues. Affliction was carried incredibly hard by borrowed power, ToTA had almost as much borrowed power available for some builds but it was not needed by most builds, instead it opened a lot of weird and unusual builds as well as making stuff like armour stacker slightly more achievable for people who played through to the serious endgame.

ToTA was altogether a different game. And it came with some sugary benefits like, no death xp penalty and decent rewards at the end. Matches had enough randomisation to not feel boring and turned out to be an addictive auto-battler mini-game.

Sanctum and Tota were my favorites.

Betrayal, Metamorph, Crucible

" ToTA was indeed very out of genre but it was also fresh and interesting as a mini game within PoE. If I played a game that was only ToTA I would probably put about 50 hours into it before bailing. I’ve played many thousands of hours of PoE. You are very wrong in your criticisms. Gear 100% mattered for ToTA, I was tanking hits in rank 2000 matches by the end of the league. I could not do that without the right gear. There were also some very cool loot items and it was a pretty reliable source of divines in SSF. Tattoos were also massive power creep for certain builds(notably TS). I will also add that Sanctum was very accessible in ToTA and is also quite a good time if you have the right build. The game state was all around good, the league mechanic was solid, and the challenge rewards were super cool. Great league in my book. |

" -- I agree with this post, I am a very high volume player since 2013 and I almost completely skipped Sanctum and ToTA mechanics after a few test runs. Those are pretty much the only league mechanics I have ever skipped until Necropolis - which is so bad that if it had come out before those two league I probably would have been OK with Sanctum and ToTA (yes that is how bad Necropolis is). Anyway, I am stunned that some people didn't like the GOAT Affliction or great leagues like Sentinel, Delirium and Scourge that made mapping more fun.
