LE has AH
" "See, it's just basic economics. If I use this table cloth to cover the item and don't tell you the price, you can't RMT for it." 1. Little Timmy who wants his 40 strength ring to fix his attributes ends up with 37 strength. He's now weak AND poor. 2. RMTers just find a part of the market with little to no movement like a undesireable T1 roll on a very specific base item. RMT stays, Timmy gets bent once again. Also if you decide to make the AH actually increase the stats instead of just obfuscating them I can just ask someone from my filled friendslist to trade the item back and forth with me until it's perfect. Most high-end items have very little listings and are easily distinguishable because of lacking availablility. |

Hell I can imagine a world where doing that would bring back trading forum.
Why am I still here

" You are talking about cornering the market. You realizse that hiding buyers name makes it EVEN EASIER? Explain your logic how hiding my name would not allow me to pricefix items. Because let me tell you, if I would be able to hide my name, it would make it MUCH EASIER because people dont realizse that 100 items that are posted on the market for very low price are from same person. Currently the only way to detect pricefixing is by seeing that every item on "first page" is listed by same person. When you pricecheck item, you always check price from at least few diffrent players. You would remove that ability. You would literally make pricefixing even easier than it is. PoE is not "real economy" nor "real life". First learn how trading in this game works, then start recommending changes, because right now you would just make things worse. Imagine playing a loot game where you actually are able to find stuff yourself! I'm not here to play a Jeff Bezos simulator, I just want to kill monsters and find cool stuff.
I don't want an AH in either game so the entire point is moot for me. However, LE does give me a rewarding SSF mode to play. It's quite obvious that GG is too scared to offer such an option to their players for fear that people will finally realise that Izaro has no clothes. |

People are so damned either/or, black/white, for/against. No shades, no nuances. It's almost like this is the internet... Oh, wait...
PoE's trading system is flawed. In a lot of areas. I think most people can agree with that. Hell, Mark even used the word "flawed" about trading in the livestream. PoE's trading system can improve. But to go from there, to a fleshed-out AH with instant buyouts, soul boud items, auctions and whatever else we've seen in other games is just crazy, in lack of better words. What people tend to ignore, is that NO game in the history of ARPG has "nailed" trading. There's not a single game (with trading) in the history of ARPG where trading hasn't been a hot topic. "Nailing" trading is hard AF, and there's much more to it than just "I want to buy and sell fast, with access to everything I need - when I need it, without thinking or putting in an effort". --- Just stop the "Hurr, durr, AH" and start discussing small steps that would improve the current system, because what most of you think of when it comes to an AH is never going to happen (nor should it). You might as well wish for melee to become META amongst ever content creator out there. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you. Last edited by Phrazz on Mar 24, 2024, 6:35:42 AM

You are misunderstandung. Timmy sees the exact stats timmy would get and the name of the item. Those stats item name and price would be different from what little bobbie tables posted. Little bobby tables still gets his 10 divs but is unqble to make a irl connection with timmy to get paid in real or almost real money.

" 1. Thats not how RMT works. 2. So in essence you want me to sell item that will be different once its on AH? Thats fkn stupid. You would never know what you really have. You got perfect roll? Cool story, its bottom roll on AH. Your idea is stupid. | |
" your thinking to far in the extreme. Change only has to be very slight so seller can't target a RMT buyer to it, or reliably search it for themselves in the auction search to tell a RMT buyer what name to look for. Currency exchange would be a bit more difficult to obfuscate, however with direct buyout the only option in an AH only situation, nobody is going to list their currency for to high or to low when the too high will just be ignored and also not make them as much IRL$$ if that is what they are trying to do. Plus removing friction for currency exchange would be widely regarded as a Very good thing. |

" It doesnt matter how minute the change is point still stands, you do not know what you are selling. Perfectly rolled items exist, you cant just ignore them. It also shows you do not know how RMT in this game works and what pricefixing really is. You still have direct trading for RMT, you still have guild stashes that could serve that purpose, you still have worthless items that can be sold on AH. NPC that sells any items you want is stupid idea not matter how obscure you try to make. Thats what people here really want, not actual AUCTION house. |
