How to fix melee builds

Melee is trash tier compared to ranged, and builds like TS. The Day Melee can hit the whole screen while moving, is the day it will be ok to play. Anyone saying melee is fine is just hoping they won't nerf their ranged build.

New Cleave literally offscreens. You know when Melee will start to be more popular? When streamers/youtubers stop making 500 videos how TS/LA is good league starter.
People cant think for themselves. They will play what popular streamer/youtuber will tell them to play.
The other factor is that, melee, as a league starter, is not that good, because you will be much slower at "making bank" on melee builds. Melee is great but as a 2nd build. However, a lot of people (probably most people) play only 1 character per league. Thats another factor why melee is so unpopular.

true. if 3 big streamers league start with a melee build, make a comprehensive guide about it, half the players will be playing melee. there are dozens of incredibly powerful builds out there with 0.1% representation on poe.ninja, because streamers don't play them

Again with this "melee is great, except...".

Melee is bad against ubers. Melee is slower at "making bank". Melee is great, but as a second character. All your words.

All of these factors can be altered, smoothed out, streamlined - which is what most of "those people" you claim saying "melee is trash" are asking for.

Lets try this:
Why is melee bad at Ubers?
Why is melee 'only' good as a second character?
Why is melee slower at "making bank"?
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Easy to fix melee builds. Make spell suppression more assessable. Give more block attack and spell damage in skill tree. Just give more defenses.

Game is hot garbage. Its just bow and totem builds, and SRS and a few other same ol crap.
How to Fix Melee...

Allow melee to do things that it does before, like stun locking UBER bosses. Or 1-shotting them with super ultra buffed slams.

What's the point of getting a melee character where you are PUNISHED for not having a range for UBERS. Damage also scale shit especially for pure Physical Builds which most of the melee class and gems falls to.

Because there will always be worse and better skill. Just because something is worse doesnt mean its trash. Its still great. Deal with it or dont play it. Its simple.
Why do you think GGG didnt "fix" melee after years and years of people bitching that it should be fixed? Because it doesnt need to be fixed and GGG knows it. No matter how many threads you will make like this, now matter how many times people will ask GG about melee "fix", they will just laugh and ignore you or promise "we will make changes in the future" just so people drop the topic, like they always do.

So melee is 'worse', but nothing needs to be done because you, personally, find it fine?

GGG doesn't fix melee because it requires a lot of work. The ceiling of melee on a very high budget is too high for them to buff it, because they seem rather clueless as to how. Look what happens when a melee skill gets some help with scaling/progression (Boneshatter), it becomes rather popular, even though it doesn't scale that crazy at the later stages of the endgame.

The thing here is - and you know it:
Melee COULD be better against Uber bosses.
Melee COULD be better at "making bank" early on.
Melee COULD be better at being a starter/first character.

You've already said that melee isn't a great option when it comes to those factors. But it COULD be. Why not make it happen? Do some balance, strive for some equality, smooth out the progression? Why you would be against it is beyond me. But hey, we can't understand everything.

No matter what they will do, people will still bitch that melee bad, just play TS. As long this game is designed in a way where speed = money, fastest clearing builds will always be the most popular and you can make meleee builds immortal and do 500 quadrilion damage, it wont change anything.

You have no proof that people will still bitch about melee, because there's never been a time, afaik, that melee has really been on par with spells/bow. There's been builds, here an there, like bleed lacerate, or for one league, slams, that were pretty good, but they never lasted. The bleed nerf ruined lacerate, and slams became outclassed one league later afaik.

Grim Dawn, D3 after ROS, D4, Last Epoch, Torchlight Infinite, Torchlight 2 all handled melee better than PoE. I know, because I've played melee in all of them, and it just works better than in PoE. It isn't a heroic struggle to get a melee character off the ground and doing content I want to do in those other games.

Grim Dawn is just a completely different game. Movement speed is capped and melee classes have the best mobility (shadowstrike, blitz, skating..)

That, and the fact that weapon damage leech is instant creates a scenario where melee can shine. Maybe if old vaal pact was around still..
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
