DMG uptime is not a problem, it comes with playstyle. With melee dps is not as important as burst dmg. The only issue is not nearly enough streamlined progression. In the acts melee is great, its easier to level than ranged characters (there are some outliers, sure). It falls off in the maps until you get decent gear. With melee you are too weak until you are too strong. You may be the only one here that thinks getting better gear access is a buff for melee. Almost everyone else just want more dmg, more attk speed, more strike range etc. They want literal buffs.
well buffing damage gives more access to defense and buffing defense gives more access to damage.

anyway i ve seen the light. i am a game too easy cause there are aurabots. no more complaints, this game is way too easy in fact. dont even have to invest in grace deter regen res on y build anymore. yaaaawn this game is so easy. plz nerf all.

Zero chances. I played multiple melee builds, every one of them were "off meta" (since according to Forum only Boneshatter is viable) and I didnt have any problems while playing them.
Melee doesnt need help. What is needed is nerf to ranged builds. So then finally people like you would stop saying that "melee bad because TS better".

Sorry but just mageblood was 400 div. GLoves are another 100 div. That flicker is at least 700 divines. Get your facts checked ;) But seeing your characters I can forgive you for not knowing prices of some more expesive items.

The funny part is TS is not better. its better at mapping but melee is better at bossing on same budget. Where TS is better is on super high end with hunderds of divines budget where you can kill a boss within 3 sec and build dont matter.

The clear outliers are dots. Thats what needs nerf. They should have their dmg cut by half since they have 100% dmg uptime. At least on bosses.

People like me? You mean the majority of players, including most streamers, majority of people on PoE Ninja and generally all statistics since Legion League? Strange place to use the words "people like you", but OK.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
I remember Bolton saying his TS build does 7.2 billion dmg.

I don't think I could ever make a melee build do that much damage no matter how much I invested. Is it even possible?

Even if every single item on a melee build was mirrored and all other items perfect, can you make a melee build do that much?

Maybe he was just talking shit, but I doubt it.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.
Melee is trash tier compared to ranged, and builds like TS. The Day Melee can hit the whole screen while moving, is the day it will be ok to play. Anyone saying melee is fine is just hoping they won't nerf their ranged build.
