Why PoE 2 will again not get a Auction house? (or trading system)

hoho I can't wait to see people find something to complain about this as well.

Oh sweet forum content I can't wait.

I agree. This is going to be pretty funny; and also predictable.

There will be tons of threads about bots soon after the release.

And? Are we supposed to accept bots because they made the trading system better?

The current trade system sucks, it's infested with trading bots. If the new trading system works better but still has bots, I will keep complaining about the bots.

I sincerely don't understand your logic.

Ironically, I think you are insinuating that it can't be worse. Bots are bad in a non-automated system. How do you think they'll be in a system that is automated?

Like I said, the outcome is pretty predictable. At least in POE2 banning an account has a little impact on the bot (for now). POE1 will be an absolute mess.
Thanks for all the fish!
The gold will help a lot to prevent trading bots

You're joking, right? Price fixing in its current form will still exist to an extent for influencing prices. People will still need a reference for what to list things at.

Not really, it will prevent people from setting prices too low. You'll need to actually list the item to sell if you want to "trick" someone into thinking an item is worth less than it actually is.

But more importantly, a new form of price fixing will be created with bots buying up stock faster than any human can then re-listing at a higher price.

But yeah, I get your point. This happens in games that have an Auction House like WoW.

Still, I think it's a good trade-off, I'd rather have this kind of "price fixing" than the other. Even with bots, people will need to farm gold to list stuff.
We have had currency exchange, a form of instant buyout, for one year.

The question is: Is the currency exchange infested with bots? Is it a bad experience for players. Is it bad for the game? If instant buyout is extended to include items is this going to be bad?

The proof is there. You can dissect currency exchange to check how prevalent botting is. That's the only solid information we have.

Anything else is 'trust me bro' territory.

I meant price fixing via the current method; not using the new AH. You can still sell items outside of the AH. It's not clear yet how prices will be calculated and whether that will still have influence or not.

The currency exchange worked as a charm for me. Specially when I wanted a SINGLE currency orb nobody was willing to trade before.

I wish they implemented a trading system for maps sooner, but now we are getting it. Even when buying 30c~50c maps, I still have to message around ~10 to 15 people before someone responds, it's insane.

Oh yeah, I hope they remove the ability to sell stuff outside the new trading system, or at least separate them entirely.

of course it`s annoying for players to have to play the game to advance further rather than just take the shortcut and buy your progress from other players.

the old system kind of balanced that and the balance is gone now.

of course playing with merchant tabs will feel better for players now but the difference between self found players and those who rarely trade and those in trading (poopsock) league will be even greater.

the game will lose alot of appeal cause players will struggle less.

Wtf are you talking about? I completed the whole Atlas without having to buy a single map. Buying maps is not only to "advance further" into the game. What a terrible take.

Yeah, struggling is very appealing, you're right.

Of course it is. Not everyone wants a game where you can "progress" from A to Z without meeting hurdles and/or problems to solve. Reaching a goal, beating a tough boss or crafting a good item never feels like an achievement unless there's some kind of struggle involved.

On topic: The new trading system will solve a lot of problems. But if you think that it won't create some new problems, you're naive.

Would you like to list the new trading problems created by the currency exchange?

This can actually be a good discussion point.
