How is this game playable in melee?
you realize talking about builds with all items in your stash is different than league starting and having to get the items.
and what skill did you league start in sanctum and what skill did you use to clear it Last edited by SerialF on Aug 28, 2023, 7:13:48 AM

Just read my post on page 3 in this topic. I've described the whole thing there.
Sure, leaguestarting is different from standard but it's not a problem at all. Compared to standard you can get top notch gear for a couple of chaos 2 days into the league. SSF is a different beast but as long as trade is a thing gear really isn't an issue. In trade league arguably less than in standard unless you wanna break the billions in dps by stacking legacy gear. |

checking poe ninja.

" top notch gear for couple c lol. at this point you should post league start pobs. and you didnt tell us what was your sanctum league start | |
I told you where to find all the information regarding my Sanctum league start in the first sentence of the post you quoted.

you said you bored yourself to death. and quit one week in. so you do it once in a while and you quit one week in. you didnt even go for uber when you re a specialist. how is this a good example. ok so you proved it s technically possible but I don t think anyone denies the pure technical viability of things.
how was your build against essence + beast for instance ? like specing into beasts and speccing into essences. or any painful combination. like metamorph. Last edited by SerialF on Aug 28, 2023, 8:36:13 AM

I had my end game setup after one week, i played with it for another week until i had everything done before i quit. Going for ubers requires currency. You can faceroll non uber content for like 5 div but doing ubers requires 20-30 div to have a realistic chance. I simply didn't feel like doing that when i already have multiple builds capable of doing ubers in standard.
I literally only made that char and played Sanctum because Phrazz complained to me how horrible it feels to league start double strike and i wanted to see that for myself. I didn't have essence + beasts specced so i can't judge that but the build cleared all the pinnacle bosses deathless and did full sanctums. I highly doubt random rares would have been any issue given his dps and defenses. |

ok so you switched to non melee (frost blades offscreen stuff) at yellow maps wich is when people start complaining so dunno what you proved. played for 2 weeks, couldnt bother to farm 30 divs ? couldnt bother to go back to a melee build (1 screen wide clear) and you had to go back playing with your standard toys worth dozens of divines wich buying in league you call a hassle.
and you didnt even want to do it in the first place, you prefer experimenting with items in standard. at 4 divs per hour, 30 divs is only 8 + 1(trading) = 9 hours. and you re an expert in melee. meaning what would anyone else non expert feel about it. but melee is fine. that s one way to look at it I suppose. " And it still is - compared with other alternatives, which is the comparison you should make when diversity and balance are being discussed. "Just trade" and "just do X" are useless arguments when other archetypes stroll through the game and far into red maps without much effort or gear requirement. I 'always' league start melee, because that's what I want to do. And every single time, I think of the few times I didn't league start melee, and how much better the progression felt when playing cold DoT, RF or something in that alley. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

@SerialF I'd like to see you off screen stuff with frostblades, even more so when you don't even scale the projectiles. I mean if you want to start with that "true melee" bullshit again, be my guest but if frostblades is a ranged skill then RF and BV are consequentially melee skills. If you feel like making bullshit arguments, at least be consequent in your logic.
Regarding ubers, i don't see the big problem. I didn't feel like farming that much just for a prove of concept. Doesn't change the fact that I can do it if I want to, just takes a bit more time investment. Whether you want to believe me or not is up to you i don't really care. I know that i am right and I can understand that hiding behind "frostblades is a ranged skill" and "but you didn't do ubers, that proves nothing" arguments are a more convenient line of thinking than considering the possibility of it being (mostly) a you problem. It's also really funny how people make ubers viability into mandatory evidence necessary to prove that melee is good while considering them completely optional aspirational content during any other topic. @Phrazz I've played TR in Crucible partially because i wanted to get that comparison. Believe it or not, but next time i'll league start I'd definetely pick double strike over toxic rain, it was WAY smoother. I honestly don't know what people are hyping so much about range. Yeah, if you have shit defense you can kite a rare 10 times around the map in order to kill it on a ranged char while you'd just lose 6 portals on a bad melee build but is that your idea of "smooth gameplay"? I cringe every time i have to take a single step back against mobs, never mind kiting them aroudn the map. I'd rather quit the map right there before kiting that much and if you just build properly from the get go you can just face tank said rare on a melee build. You always say "range" is so smooth, what exactly are you talking about? What build? How much currency did you need for what content? I did T16 maps with a 50C budget in sanctum. 6 div was god mode for non uber content. The first time i did ubers and wave 30 simus on my shield crush jugg he had roughly 20 div worth of gear. What are those range builds you talk about that can do all that for significantly less investment, POB please. I've provided clear benchmarks for a melee build and i'd say they are more than reasonable. So where is your counterpoint of a ranged build doing all that stuff for way less? That would actually be an argument worth considering for a change. Last edited by Baharoth15 on Aug 28, 2023, 12:05:57 PM
