Development Manifesto: Harvest Crafting

At least you posted the destruction of Harvest in advance of the next league launch, going by your established deceitful and spiteful nature i'd have, based on past actions, expected the harvest destruction as part of the nerf notes, giving only a few days notice before launch.

Anyways...
I just got 5 guys from work interested in signing up for next month with the new league. 3 had played before but said the game was shit but i swore to them that it had got better, Now I am going to have to tell them they were right and to not bother with next month. THANKFULLY they had not got their supporter packs and stash tabs.

Its sad that 200, 300? of the top 1% players got to dupe, split and print 6 link white bases and then had fun crafting hundreds or thousands of god tire items, only to have forever ruined the game for the rest of us.

I read your manifesto Chris, and I call all your responses to justify the destruction bullshit. You obviously lost touch with this game along time ago, the biggest problem with poe now, is you.

No it's your entitlement thinking an item editor was okay LOL

I suggest that Chaos/exalted orbs comes with iLvL from the area they are found. This way people can use them while leveling.

So...summation

Gotcha. Thanks, Grinding Gear. Good to know that nobody is supposed to be able to make their own shit and everybody needs to just buy it. Great game. Much fun. Wow.
LOL, this will make my wife happy....

First league I ever tried to craft items, played more hours this league than any other. I made a few items, and the ability to make more is what kept pushing me to continue to play, and run the Atlas over and over. I was enjoying learning to craft with harvest, targeting mods, crafting blockers so I would not get undesirable results.

The sad fact is, we spend money when we are happy. This was the first league in years that I bought a support pack, and it was due to the fact I was enjoying this league and what I was able to accomplish in game due to the fact that better items were more available. It was only the last 3 weeks or so I was far enough along to even start crafting my items.

Now, I feel as it may be time to find another game to play(hence my wife happy with the lesser amount of time spent playing games).
I agree with the majority of people here, this is a bad change. It makes Harvest so much worse that it will be a lot less useful. Just remove it if it's going to be this bad and useless.

Edit: Buffing the frequency that harvest spawns doesn't matter when it's useless.

Sorry but never hear so much stupid things sorry GGG, but NO

Your game is played over 50% of Casuels, why you are think ppl want play a Aura Stacker? it is because high invest = High reward and sky is the Limit.
But this is only a thing for the Path of Math that make ez over 100 Mirrors in 1 month.

But the Casuels aka Normal player dont want rng one shotet every time. How you deny that? Dmg dmg and dmg to 1 shoot every thing and not get one shottetd. And not every one will do mirror tier iteams when you fix your Iteams 90% of the Uniq are trash....giga Trash...who is using a "Nuro's Harp" no one.

Good Chnagesfo it is...
Dont allow player open a Portal in the grove, if a Map had a Havest you had 1!!! Portal to go in and no one can follow you. AND delete the Station, now you can not more sell Crafts and if you pay some one to craft you iteams you need trust them waht no one will do and you need pay was more.
Amd you need only to delet the TFT Discord and say "selling crafts is not Legal". Sure it will give then guys that sell crafts but they will get banned. Same like why are alle the Currency selling side are still open?????

Is the Importen part not the FUN on the Game? It not make fun know every price and all to made enoth Currency to do shit with it.
Possibly the worst decision ever made in PoE, clearly you don't really have a grip on what 99% of your playerbase do.
Stop looking at the very top and start watching at the majority of players on which this huge nerf actually has an effect.
Aquiring very good pieces, was one of the thing that kept people grinding in the game, buying a not-that-bad rolled item on the trade website takes no effort and does the job.
When the next step you gotta do to min max your build is hundreds exs away, you just lose motivation and go play something else.
I personally skipped heist league cause I thought that the choice of removing harvest entirely from the game was an exaggeration, but brutaliazing it this way is not that better.
The excitement and the satisfaction of planning your own pieces just won't exist anymore and I don't think this is anything near to a good thing for the game.
A better solution, instead of remoove targeted crafting that make harvest op :
reduce the probability to have it in harvest, and add it to the older league mechanic.

Make that to be an item (no more risk of scam when trade), and make that this item drop from harvest, but also in the Temple of Atzoatl, in the breachs, sell by Cadiro Perandus, ...

It is an occasion to make the old mechanic more relevant.

BUMMER!

I had made my peace in 3.12 that harvest was just not gonna be in the core game. But I've loved Harvest in 3/13, especially with the Atlas passives.

I agree that high-level deterministic crafting is too easy. I felt that power in Harvest league, and it felt too broken that someone with my casual playstyle could access a 20-exalt chest piece for a mere few chaos as I played the game normally.

On the other hand... crafting needs to have some balance between deterministic and total RNG. Essences and fossils seem to meet this balance. And even unlocking bench crafts require some degree of RNG with the Syndicate, or gates in the Mines or with Prophecy chains... but the feeling with bench crafts is that you'll unlock them all if you just play enough.

I'd love to see the value of deterministic crafting mitigated more by definitive investment or a stabilizing, flat cost. Kinda like the Bench crafts for Sockets and Links. I love that [assuming I unlock the recipe] I can just spend 300 Jeweller's Orbs to get 6 sockets and another 1500 Fusings to 6-socket it. It's not cheap -- usually more expensive than RNG/spamming it -- but for the less risk-tolerant, or for those who want to grind toward something that's a sure bet, it's wonderful.

If it's the cost/benefit of the rush of spending an Exalt to get a good mod or a crappy mod, couldn't you just make a deterministic crafting bench option that cost multiple Exalt? At least then, players could have something reliable to work towards... do oyu want to get 10 Exalts to buy something or to add that one craft to your item? Either way, you know you need 10. And it would still require deep knowledge of the game, tags, and mod-blocking to achieve such a desired result.

I think that for solo self-found, solo gamers in general, and more casual players or players who have limited amounts of time to invest in the game, some sort of deterministic crafting -- even if it's only late-game -- is beneficial.

Like, you want a 6-link Crusader Explody Chest? YOU CAN MAKE IT... but it still might be cheaper to just buy it.

GGG probably thought of it as well of putting a cost to each Harvest crafting. And if its targeted annul, they may have to put 10ex and targeted add mod, another 20ex to the cost. The casual players will still scream at GGG for making it costly for casual players to farm up that amount of currencies to do Harvest.

No matter what GGG does and if they want to reduce or lower the power creep level ( without having to hike up the monster strength ), GGG will have to disappoint a majority of the casual players. POE is not meant to be completed ( kill all bosses multiple times ) by casual players.

Its like taking away a candy to a kid when he already tested it.
