CP2077 was originally a pen and paper RPG (CP2020) with a ton of setting details and history. CDPR worked very closely with the original game designer, Mike Pondsmith, when making CP2077. According to some youtuber/streamers (most notably the Mad Queen), the consistency and fidelity of CP2077 setting to the source material is meticulous. Given that kind of effort for what is a pretty esoteric setting, I would be surprised if this was not the beginning of a long ongoing series that they will lovingly craft like they did the Witcher series.
