You make good points about not using glancing blow actually lowering your eHP... unless you have on block recovery with things like Aegis Aurora. I think your toon is so tanky you are probably fine, but not being able to recover ES on block during that 3 second window still sounds dangerous.

I think with the damage upgrade inquisitor might be the better balanced version, except I'm not sure how easy it is to get price of leadership. If you want any one it's super cheap (right now at end of league) but one with at least no negatives on resists are 4X or more.

I'm still hoping scorching ray gets a damage boost and I can still league start with it, because my fingers became numb with incinerate last league XD But if I do go incinerate I have the new purple MTX ready! :D

I was wondering whats the best way to league start this?

So far im just doing some test runs with templar in campaign, all good. Not the fastest, but +50% deeps should cover everything we'll need in 3.17.

But after that?

weapon - day1 cerberus is probably no go. Poe.ninja shows 50c, and i dont think it's worth it. So random sceptre with +1 fire +fire dmg or w/e rolls we can get
Body armor - corrupted 6 link, or tabula (or if lucky +1gems tabula) should be enough for white-yellow maps.
Shield - aegis seems to be at "alright" price at league start, about 40-50c for endgame shield is quite good. Probly random rare shield before that.
Belt - dunno about coward's legacy. It could be thtat buffs to selfcast would bring prices from 80-100c at the start to 2ex like it is now.
Jewellery - obviously no leadership price so random rares probably? Dunno about circle of anguish, explosive arrow seems to be on the rise, and i dont know if that build uses it.
Boots - Stampede seems to be in ok spot, another 20-35c unique that will serve till the endgame.
Helmet - crown is pretty expensive on the first couple of days, should be pretty cheap after that.
Natural Affinity - is cheap at day 2. About 5c
Watcher's eye is ?

The helmet availability and price might be a little different this league since we are not yet sure how easy it will be to spawn Sirus and players may first focus on the new end game boss.

The good news is that the lab runners might be more likely to choose Incinerate enchant with the buff to the skill.

Well... incinerate damage was fine before this buff. With all (I hope) self cast gems buffed, incinerate is not any better compared to other spells now vs before, so I'm not sure if lab runner will pick it this league any more often than previous leagues.

DD/ignite dominated December events because you can get damage for free by high life spectres so you dont need to invest much damage in the tree, leaving points for defenses. These buffs make self cast more viable by the same route (imo), in that since base damage is much higher, you can now invest more in defenses. A lot of people still hate the whole channeling / standing still thing, rather zoom and go.

Inward eye is a great helm in that it gave good defense and offense, but our build is so tanky we can go with anything really. If you get a helm that gives -fire resist to mobs nearby that's more DPS, and getting +2 incinerate enchant is the biggest DPS boost possible so just get it on any cheap helm at the start, if you dont have better choices.

Andy and I discussed that earlier. The only must have is +3 fire due to using RF. Lightning would be nice to have 0 or higher instead of negative, but not necessarily required. Cold is perfectly fine at -3 since we are getting +5 from our shield. Even with -3 on amulet our overall Cold cap max would still be 80%

I understand what you are saying but I don't think Incinerate is going to be up against other Self cast skills when given the 3 choices in lab

While Incinerate was not buffed any more than any other self cast gems, it received a significant buff when compared to the vast majority of skills that it will be up against when given the choices in lab.

I thought it was just all random, why wouldn't incinerate be paired with other self cast spell enchants?

There are far far far more non self cast skills than self cast in the game.

It will be significantly more likely for the Incinerate enchant to be up against non self cast skills when choosing three random skills in the game.
