Betrayal as a Core Game Mechanic
" I personally think it's an amazing addition that allows people who specialize in such things to actually be able to make a profit, and have a much more decisive journey to go through. Which in other words, makes it like literally any other system in all of Path of Exile. |
|
" And your problem is ? Gated content ? All games have some... Syndicates will be less common, but your intel will never be reset. does not sounds fair enough ? Like everything in life, would you enjoy it so much if it was handed to you on a gold plate ? Path of Exile is a Casino for gambling addicts.
Gambling is not fun nor a game mechanic... |

" +1. I can't see myself unveiling mods again. I'd rather have Vorici and the rest of them back and do a rotation. |

Understandable nerfs for the most parts, wondering how the Betrayal behaves regarding the board since there should be three times you encounter them instead of one? I see possible bugs going to happen, hopefully as little as possible.
To me it seems a lot people really enjoy Delve and want to do as much of it as possible. I can relate into that, I feel excited each time I get into delving. I don't have guaranteed solution to make it balanced (loot wise) and fun also to run often enough (sulphite). Maybe nerf the fossils to be only dropped from those special fossil rooms and increase the loot from there? As it is now, Delve is very hard to balance, dark diving was too good way to find fossils, but they can't take it entirely away without finding a proper replacement. Not that thrilled about Betrayal going into core game, the rewards felt underwhelming from the Mastermind fight and I can only do so much Scarab farming before getting bored. The shuffle change to Syndicate is better solution, I think, than the entire set resetting. But that will be seen, the next league has my interest since it has that Delve vibe of making your paths into places you want to go. Almost forgot, the recipe system needs some changes since it can become frustrating to find specific recipes. _Skittles_ |

No matter what they do, some people will always complain. The game is always dead, everyone will skip the league, everyone at GGG is a moron....so,what else is new?
Sulphite rotas will still exist, those who want to go deep delving will be able to do so, don't tell me that the scarab nerf somehow completely broke delving and it will make it impossible for you to go delve, because no one believes that. Last edited by Nosferat#4431 on Feb 22, 2019, 8:16:49 AM

" So the number one issue most of the community had with the Mastermind fight still remains firmly in place. Looks like we still won't be running the Mastermind ever, for any reason, ladies and gentlemen! |

I'm glad that betrayal stays in core, it's fun, those characters are fun! It's good pure breachstones will be nerfed, if hard enough we will see. I don't know about unlocking crafting recipes from 0 all over again and every new league, cause I haven't seen few mods for 2.5 months and if it has rng like that it can be annoying and not fair. BUT we will not reset chart after mastermind and this is all what matters.
THANK YOU AGAIN, GGG GODS. Smile! <3 Last edited by Wilc#3450 on Feb 22, 2019, 8:19:20 AM

I did not play Betrayal league so I cannot say if it was good or bad. However, I can read and I have read many opinions. It seems that this league idea was good and interesting for most of players. Bad thing was that he final boss fight is not rewarding but is heavy and have many downsides.
It shows in my opinion bad direction where GGG is going. Game where people are forced for long-all-day-faming activities is designed for 'farmers' which can spend all days on that. Game, where your rewards are proportional to difficulty level (and difficulty should not be something that a monster will one-shoot you if you will not be quick enough to do that first), will be more challenging and interesting for people like me, which have no time for long farming (some players have schools, works, families etc.). The idea of temporary leagues with new content, transferred to the core game, making it bigger and theoretically better, is great - that keep the game alive and interesting. I afraid only, that game stays more designed for farmers than for casual players which maybe have other things to do than playing games all the time. I can see that on our new league announcement - Amnesis (Synthesis? something like that about Sclerosis and lost memories)... it looks like heaven for super fast builds, which will melt all the content as soon as it will appear on the screen and will run the map with 200%+ speed modifier (it will be essential as maps will disappear in time). Not everybody likes play-style like that. People which will not want to play such builds will never achieve rewards like super-speedy farmers and will be upset that game is too heavy or just boring due to impossibility of playing it efficiently. Inefficient playing delivers low level of satisfaction - it may be not high enough to keep them interested in long term staying with PoE. What I would want? I like Delve, I am just surprised, that deep mine explorations seems to be difficult due to lack of sulphite. Why GGG consider maps as that much essential to play for all players? I (and many others) enjoy Delve, but to arrange a sulphite it is required to play maps. The amount is very, very low in comparison to travel cost in the mine. I do not have time to farm maps - 1 quest map and 10 random maps with hope that there will be a little more. If I do few maps, I usually cannot do Delve the same day. I would be happy to see reduced cost of deeper delve travels and increased amount of sulphite found (I have seen already 14-15 tier maps, with good quantity of items found and 1 sulphite below 1000 - this is even not 1 delve route cost on lower levels). Maybe it would be a good idea to show where masters are on the Atlas all the time, to let people to do right chooses. Maybe somebody likes to collect beasts, so why do not show him which maps would contain them? If somebody likes Betrayal missions... well - few maps every day could be chosen to do them. Masters could be located on the Atlas maps permanently and relocate to other maps on a daily basis. It should not have an impact on non-masters add-ons like Breeches, Essences, Abysses etc. which could appear on map regardless of master existence. That would help more casual players, I am not sure if this would not be too generous for all-day players, but would it really be an issue? Those masters were in regular "use" during their leagues and the world did not collapse. |

I suppose it's too late for GGG to change this now but I hated everything about betrayal. The encounters and random 1 shots, needing a picture on the 2nd screen to know what to do, then how often you get to go to hideouts (incursion was my favourite league and going to temples was a lot more frequent).
I really don't want this as part of the core game, and I'm most likely going to completely avoid this part of the game because I really cba to deal with the encounters |

" delve dead no, just limited to the rich people or those who have a team/guild and no life outside of PoE.. pretty much like it was last league, now just even more. but things like the crafting system is just a fundamental disaster.. it's not some "minor" mechanic...... no matter how bloody annoying doing the old masters were, the random "oh after 10 encounters here are two veiled items who each contain mods you already had"... is just worse.. It's the main reason I detested Betrayal league and now it's going to get worse.. and since GGG is working SO HARD to make everyone bloody craft.. ye.. no.. fuck that. generally dangerous
