I will kill shaper using those bad boys today.

Does that unique mod even work with this build? I was under the impression that "hits" won't count CoC spells.

Shield charge scales from movement speed, whirling blades scales from attack speed. We limit our attack speed; with a good quicksilver, shield charge is faster. Leap slam is really just used to jump gaps, but its slower.

Whirling blades travels a finite distance, and shield charge travels to cursor.

Whirling blades travels through more objects that would stop shield charge.

Shield charge has larger AOE for fortify trigger.

thanks for the info!

Managed to get up to 700k avg Ice Nova damage while maintaining full CC and capped aps (14% crs) and i'm only level 86!

Shaper didn't actually move before phasing, was pretty hilarious... This builds stupid strong haha.

definitely looks like a glass cannon with 5100 life and resistances only capped with wise oak active

your helm craft seems weird. why'd you pick that one?

In the 700k dmg instance it was glass cannon. I pumped damage for lulz, dropped disciple for anger + crit multi anger watcher's eye... Shaper was phasing before he moved, so who needs health? ^^'

The helm craft is for the 9% cold pierce, pierce is a crazy damage boost in this build... The rest, I mean life, ES, Resistances are all good thing. I'm able to get Attack Speed cap without starks thanks to the 16% on my gloves, my quad-stat jewel and unnatural instinct. So I don't really see why I would use it over a helm like mine (which was also way cheaper at 3ex for base + ~200 frigid fossils costing 1c each).

As for the res comment, my cold res is capped and that's really the only res that matters because no boss other than uber elder is going to move and outside of that specific fight I will have 100% uptime on flasks, so why drop damage for resistances I don't need? I've got a 10 all res jewel and I could swap the craft on my ring to res as well if I really wanted to but honestly The Wise Oak gives resistances so why not use it?

In normal gear i've got 5.2k life and 950 ES with a disp watcher's eye and when I hit lv 95 i'll have 6.1k life which doesn't seem that glass cannon to me.

shield charge and leap slam are great for this build because the melee crit can trigger cospri's

i think whirling blades is fine. i guess it comes down to preference. i might give wb a try cos i prefer it too.

are there any reasons you wouldn't want to use wb?

i switched to whirling blades last night and i love it so far. it attacks much faster than shield charge, it lets you get in the middle of mobs to drop vortex, and it can help you get out of sticky situations faster than cyclone. it feels like way more mobility compared to shield charge to me.

I agree. I think what I like most about it is that it feels much less clunky that shield charge. The movement feels more instantaneous, and I don't feel like I'm being blocked by obstacles quite as frequently.

I do understand the pros of shield charge though, and all of this is strictly personal preference.
The wiki shows
"
damage_+%_vs_chilled_enemies
and PoB calculates it so I'm assuming yes

Honestly, it's more about smart buys.

The helm base cost 3ex and then 300 frigid fossils is around 300c including resonators.. So that's less than 5ex. A starks with 40% ice nova is 10ex+.

Mark - 70c
Second ring - 3ex
Amulets - 4ex
Shield - 110c
Sword - 2ex
Belt - 70c base + 150 alts/augs +80c for copy beast (incase annul goes wrong) + 1 regal + 3ex for multi mod & crafts. I did get pretty lucky on this tbh, but it doesn't matter what tier of CRS you hit and life is a common mod so it's not that hard to hit.
Boots - 1ex.
Armour - 1ex base + ~900 fusings (2ex) + 15 divines (1.5ex).
Gloves I stole from my Elemental hit char, they took like 1200 alts to hit. Same strat as belt so thats what an ex of alts? So cost 3ex inc crafts.

Total gear cost: ~23 ex. Add on your disp jewel for 5ex, rare jewels for ~130c each, 1 jewel with dex for 1ex and gems for 3ex.. your looking at 40ex max.

And there would be way cheaper ways to budget this, get cheaper jewels.. Don't get a ring with crit multi, don't get lv 21 gems, buy a 25% ice nova base (I did this at the start tbh and it cost me 60c + 40c of frigid crafting to hit a decent roll that I would wear over the 10ex starks). Honestly for the output this build has ~40ex is crazy cheap, it does more damage than my ~150 ex Elemental Hit char did. It's nuts.

Being able to buy smart and craft is 90% of the battle in this game, I made a molten strike character before this got bored and sold it for about 5x what I paid haha.
