Don't even ask that, because they can always claim "bringing McBurgers and Democrazy", the eternal neocon reason for endless wars, everywhere. Now repackaged for the liberal market.

The US/NATO has been bringing Freedom Burgers to Afganistan for 17 years, for a freaking generation! The place is still a hellhole infested with Taliban and now even ISIS. There is more worldwide terrorism today, than in 2001.

These perpetual endless wars are all immoral, useless and benefit only the war profiteering economy. While the rest of us get refugees and the tax bill. Period.

Trump ran on this anti-interventionist platform and that is one reason why people liked him. Today even the left (the dissident old-school left, not the liberal MSM/elites) likes the news about Syria. At least the ones that havent yet succumbed to TDS.

Yes. Precisely. My argument is essentially make the Syrian and Afghan people obese and addicted to fast food with cheap burgers, then mumble something about democracy and call it a day.

Republicans are always a step behind it seems (I'm not even going to mention the radical right, they aren't worth it). When warned not to create a power vacuum in Iraq, they didn't care because military-industrial complex was in bed with politicians, needed to make a quick buck for a few individuals. Then the EU gets hit by the refugee crisis, whilst the US sends a few troops to Syria, and hates on refugees from the mess that they created in the first place. Not at all equivalent, now it's terribly costly (in human lives) to pull out and leave your allies stranded.

In all this, the choice seems always to be a Trumpian 'bend-over-backwards' policy with regard to Russian aggression, and a Clinton/Bush/pretty much anyone else response to guard your country's interests. The EU learned not to trust the US in pretty much anything anymore; they are just not dependable allies. Ukraine wanted to enter the EU and the west; Russia illegally invaded a sovereign country and swallowed a big chunk of land. NATO literally did nothing. Finally a time for it and the biggest military to show its muscle and justify its extremely expensive existence, they decided to have a cocktail party in the UN instead. EU will soon have its own military now that UK is out of the way, never again will Russia be able to do what it did/is doing to Ukraine.

Trump never got the memo though. The world is a complex place, and if you start something in someone else's backyard, then at least have the courtesy to finish it. And clean up after yourself. Fuck.

Seems like Trump's withdraw may force Europe to do exactly what you've described.

But how does Europe accomplish your goals when a NATO, EU country is aligned with your enemies?
At this point it seems most nations that are allied behave more like parasites. E.g. America spends their resources on warfare so other countries don't have to or Americans are supposed to support a shitty trade deal so other countries benefit.

Canada for one has been taking advantage of them for decades now. E.g. exporting raw goods and importing assembled goods back for cheaper. Hopefully Trump will stop this and encourage Canadians to build more higher quality jobs in Canada. Although Trudeau is too much of a cuck to do anything decent.

The USA has a trade advantage against Canada. Doesn't this throw a wrench into the Presidents assertion that he's doing this trade war stuff in order to force other countries to treat us fair? It would seem to really mean that he just likes to be a bully.

All jokes about the tweets aside, beautiful?

One female bobcat collared by FWS biologists is known to roam a 730-acre tract on one of the refuges; she spends time on both sides of the posts. But if the barrier were to grow, this bobcat would lose access to much of her habitat on the Mexican side of the fence and probably would not survive on the small amount left, says Swarts. Many other animals along the border could face a similar fate.
The Rio Grande Valley is also home to the 50 or so ocelot remaining in the U.S. But they might not last; the fence has fragmented their habitat and separated these few dozen Texas cats from their larger and more genetically diverse cousins in northern Mexico. Scientists consider interbreeding between these two populations critical to maintaining genetic diversity—and, therefore, to keeping the species thriving.

From here.

That there is no consideration for the impacts of the wall in a larger sense, this speaks volumes about Trump, and about how messed up people's priorities are that support this way of looking at borders themselves.

"
Meanwhile, this dubiously effective physical structure has wreaked havoc in communities where it is located, on both sides of the border. The collateral damage has included the costs of delays and congestion at border crossings suffered by trading partners and commuters alike; environmental damage and destruction caused by the construction; interruptions in the daily lives of school children, families and friends whose lives depend on daily crossings; the massive impositions of the security apparatus that has turned the border zone into what Arizona residents describe as a “police state”; and the deep and lasting resentment that the wall has generated in Mexico. Just ask those who live near the wall: A majority of border residents on both sides say they do not want more walls, preferring that money be spent on upgrading ports of entry at the border line...

The concept of a “wall” may sound good in political rallies. It purports to identify a source for the country’s ills; it plays on fear-driven nativist sentiments; and it recommends action to solve the problem, however imprecisely the problem is understood. But if you’re looking for effective policy, stay away from building more walls. For centuries, walls have not worked, and ultimately, they always come down.

Well I always did have a guilty soft spot for Tang. Which, to bring this full circle, is very, very orange. And not bad, man.

Nothing like a refreshing citrus badinage after the thirsty work.

I could make a case that for the opposition to lose the civil war is better for Syria. Russia and Assad is in a stronger position. You do not want this civil war to be prolonged and extended indefinitely. This war need to end quickly even if the so call "bad" guys are winning. Collateral damage is inevitable if you want to take back the country, and both side did it... Contrary to what some people might think, Russia and Assad doesn't want to slaughter everyone. They prefer to rule, you can't rule if the people are dead, it is not good for PR. Maybe kill some of the stubborn ones, but nothing too conspicuous. They wouldn't be slaughter if the "good" guy is willing to seek peace, all they need to do is bend a knee.

The Schumer Shutdown only happened because Democrats hate border security. Sad!

Peace,

-Boem-
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
