"Ghost Reaver
This keystone had a huge downside for characters specialized in both Life and Energy Shield, as they could no longer leech any life, but had no penalty for pure Energy Shield Chaos Inoculation characters. Because of this, we've now added a multiplier to Energy Shield Recharge Rate to the keystone, so players will be trading Recharge Rate for leech."
Can someone clarify if this means that ghost reaver will no longer apply leech to energy shield but instead ghost reaver will give recharge rate? How the F are we to leech if this is true as CI?
Edit* asking sincerely relating to reflect and vinktars

Wrong direction GGG!
You should generally buff life and not destroy ES-build...man they are going to be like blizzard in terms of buffs and nerfs....
Powercreep. GGG does good in avoiding it this time. It's the right thing to do.

It sounds like we are trading a meta that stacked massive ES with little or no armor/evasion and no regeneration for a meta with massive life, AND armor/evasion, AND regeneration....
Not sure how this is gonna work out. I hope you guys know what you're doing GGG. I want to trust you. If there are no other changes, then people are going to be doing the exact same thing they are currently doing. The only difference is now they will have health potions, and regeneration, and armor/evasion.
It will be even more faceroll than current ES builds... I can't wait for pathfinders with 12-15K health and infinite seething flasks that are buffed... What is a status ailment? lol...
Its so easy to stack armor/evasion with life compared to ES... ES is just going to die completely with these changes...
I hope you guys balance it properly!
Playing life is so easy thats why literally everyone is playing ES because Path of Exile is a hardcore game and people would never use the easiest path they would always use the path that is the worst in the game while simoultaneously beeing the most expensive option possible.
In a nutshell what you fanbois sound like

No, it means they will add a multiplier to the recharge time on ES if you grab the node. (i.e 2x wait for recharge) You will still get instant leech but take a hit to recharge.

I like that Energy Shield and life are being rebalanced. What I dont like is that it seems to be almost entirely in the form of trashing energy shield down to lifes level rather then raising life up closer to ES. The endgame of POE delivers crazy damage that in my experience simply cannot be survived with balanced builds without spending obscene resources on very top end gear. Right now doing Shaper or Guardians with map mods almost feels impossible with a life build, I took a ranged character into them with 7k health maxed resists and pretty good armour and still got one or two shot by a lot of very hard to avoid attacks during very very long encounters.
The other thing I'm leery of is how much they seem to be sinking more focus into the Body Amour slot. I'd like to see more added to the defensive ability of gloves and boots, not less. Having all your defensive eggs focused in the body armor basket means fun builds that require specific body armours to work can be heavily disadvantaged, esp if the body armour in question is a mid-range level item.
Damn man. I had no idea! Gotta show me that shaper with map mods, always trying to learn something new.

Int will be buffed for ES. They already said they're changing more uniques for upcoming 3.0. So rethink what you just said here. It's not gonna be as bad as people think. The only real issue I'm seeing is the changes to Vaal pact and Ghost reaver. There has to be some super serious changes to how fast energy shield regen starts if it's gonna be viable.
"
And... legacy rares. Not the way to fix balance issues. No nerf to int (on my current character int gives me more es than base es does WTF), and no mention of buffs to life nodes. Life buffed by adding more life to rares? Goodbye uniques :( . Seriously these changes are horrible, and completely kill my build plan for 3.0 (a LIFE build btw).
SSF, because Path of Trade RMTers and bots suck.

Thanks for clearing that up. Tired and my brain was not making sense of it. Now the decisions come. Sell my min maxed gear and roll life(mandatory kaoms) and have to use weapon swap constantly for single target(bow user) or keep es and roll with the punches...

Can we wait until people start playing the beta before we start bashing GGG?
Seriously. This happens every time a new expansion drops. There are drastic changes to how the game is balanced and how things work, and GGG can and does look at player feedback- look at them extending legacy league for proof.
If these changes make ES too underpowered for your average character, this WILL come out when people start beta testing Fall of Oriath. This is how GGG wants to change it for now, but I would be surprised if this doesn't get modified at some point before release date.
There's tons of new stuff being introduced to the game in this expansion. We only know what's in the game now. We have no idea how the new content will actually affect our stats or what other changes will be brought to the passive tree/mechanics. So instead of getting all up in arms and complaining about the metagame/average game: sit down, grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage, and go chill with Greust or your other favorite NPC.
If you're really concerned and want to make your voice heard? Sign up to get in the Beta and try a new ES build to provide GGG with feedback about the changes. We need to see them in action across thousands of people before we can tell if they will be positive or negative changes.
