GhazzyTV - Essence Drain & Contagion (or Bane/Soulrend) Trickster [SC/HC/Uber Elder/Shaper]
" To get healed from ED you need to be close to your target? | |
" No, as long as monster is affected by ED, you'll regenerate from it. Don't know about game engine limitations though. Maybe there is 2-3 screens distance cap. |

@First_Citizen:
Patient Reaper requires something to die "recently" (4 seconds) duration of the increased regeneration effect which pretty much makes the build immortal vs anything but oneshots during that window :) Guides: https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ghazzy-guide-hub

" But when i find myself far from the ED target i cant see the ED's healing buff ( and im not talking about being really far) so i thought someone can shed some light about it. After all if it is correct it changes the way you play with the build. Last edited by itaizilca on Jul 3, 2017, 3:57:33 AM

You receive life regen from ED when there are target(s) affected by it's DOT debuff.
When target dies or when debuff duration ends - you stop regenerate. No matter how much damage you inflict with DOT, you'll regen for 0,5% (or 0,5%*1,7=0,85% with Patient reaper in 3.0 beta) of monster's life. The more damage you do, the faster you'll receive the same 0,5% or 0,85% portion of monster's life. This amount does not get increased by Vulnerability curse or by any other mean except for "xx% increased Recovery Rate of Life" modifier. All this means that to have a steady regen from ED, you'll want something to always be affected by ED's debuff. The more these "somethings", the better :) |

" Almost everything was correct here! Patient Reaper & other recovery mods will affect any sort of regeneration effect as stated. However, Vulnerability affects the damage output of ED as it increases damage over time taken by the curse effected target. Essence Drain states that 0.5% of its damage is regenerated, this means that Vulnerability increases the damage which in turn increases base regeneration ammount provided by ED in the first place. No, ED's regeneration is not affected at all by modifiers on targets (like Vuln, Vaal LT or wither).
Only the tooltip damage (the DoT one divided by 200) tells you the proportional life regen you can obtain (per target) when applying ED to monsters. Last edited by djnat on Jul 3, 2017, 2:28:36 PM

Beta update + wipe is coming in a few hours. Will play this build from the very start to see how the changes to ED (+25% dmg) and Decay (-50%) will impact. Unfortunately i have to work from tomorow to saturday, so won't have that much time to play.

Maybe have a 3.0 tree with MoM you could whip up?

" The regeneration is not affected by the dmg no. The base regeneration is based of the damage from the ED as it clearly states 0.5% of the dmg is regenerated, so if you have Vulnerability on the enemies, your ED does more dmg, which in turn increases the base ammount regenerated which is later affected by thing like recovery rates. ------------------------- 3.0 Updates will be done live on stream towards the end of Beta for this build and a few others! The build does look like it will favour MoM in the update though. Guides: https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ghazzy-guide-hub
