4. If you sell a blue rarity WAND to a vendor together with any of the chaos gems you get a +1 lvl of socketed chaos gems wand back!

Thanks! Now i need to reroll as my Contagion gem was lost. Yes yes, it was a blue rarity WAND!

Or you could stop being a prick and buy another one for 1 id scroll to the town vendor... Your call x)
thanks for the build, im lvl 28 and it was not very fast with ed and contagion but now with bane/despair it's really great

2 questions

1) why not wicked ward?

2) why not use intensify for contagion?

https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Intensify_Support

Supported Skills deal (10-16)% more Area Damage per Intensity
Supported Skills have (35-54)% increased Area of Effect

I'm no expert, but as this build will likely need a kite a bit, this part of the Intensify gem seems like a bit of a deal breaker - I absolutely admit I could be totally wrong here..

"Supported Skills lose Intensity every 0.25 seconds while moving, or immediately if you teleport"

intensify is a mustlink to contagion

The way intensify works is when you stand still and cast the linked skill, it loses AoE size, but gains damage. Then, when you move, it resets back to normal.

The catch is the gem gives a bunch of AoE size by default, so losing all your intensity charges means you just end up with 35%+ increased AoE. With Contagion you don't want to gain/keep intensify charges, you are using the gem as a second way to increase AoE.

Ok.. so essence drain is our single target dps.. do we have to choose between bane and contagion for map clearing? does anyone have any input on this choice?

Actually Ghazzy inputed on this before he went off for his work contract

This build will in my opinion be the #1 league starter build for 3.7, it has been among the best league starter builds in the entire game ever since the release of the ability and the nerfs that hit Bane as well as Soulrend are not that massive, though I must say that I favour the approach of utilizing ED & Contagion again. Though I would feel confident being so bold to say that leveling with Bane should still be a preferable idea whilst leveling your ED & Contagion gems on the side. The build can handle Uber Elder, SSF, HC and SC on similar styles and still get away with an extremely minimal investment in the process of handling these contents. I feel very inclined to do this build again myself in 3,7 to farm Monoliths with due to how effective it'll be for that specific purpose on top of the end-game viability.

I am confused now, seeing as this is what the guide says: "The choice between the 2 abilities comes down to personal preference, some enjoy to cast Essence Drain and spread it by having a Contagion cast before you use ED. However, I felt that the approach of using Bane was smoother, faster and honestly, better in all ways."
Since the IC nerfs, why not just drop it entirely and use a 3L Contagion-IncAoE-Intensify? Contagion is way too good to pass this league and you could keep Bane as a 4L for extra damage and Despair application.
Does Bane distribute Essence Drain like Contagion or not? What for Bane? For distribute ED or for extra damage?

The guide was written in 3.6. What I quoted is from his post regarding 3.7 viability. Bane received nerfs that causes that slight shift

Bane doesn't spread ED, the upside of bane is you only need one cast for good damage instead of 2 with Cont -> ED. This is why its preferred for levelling when you got low cast speed.

another function of bane is cursing enemies with despair, which is very powerful

Another upside of bane is that it hits, so it breaks breakables. Once you've got wither/blight on a totem the only way to break stuff is flame dash or bane. Last league I was ED/Cont but kept bane around with no supports just to break stuff. Really wish there was another way to go about this and not have to sacrifice a gem slot, but breaking with flame dash is too clunky for me and I'm not going to skip all those potential exalt drops.
