I honestly don't feel we've "disabled" or are "missing" this feature. Traditionally, Action RPGs did not have it (as a conscious design choice - its presence in other games predates these by many years). Some contemporary Action RPGs did decide to spam the screen with numbers and "Evaded!", but we feel that was massively detrimental to the gameplay.

We want players to look at what's going on in the scene - the size of the impact effects and what happens to the monsters, rather than have this display cluttered with numbers.

In addition, due to lag, it's not simple to get accurate numbers to even be known to the client at the right point in time for many players.

That thread is mainly about PvE which i agree with. Damage numbers crit block evade ect popping up every .01 seconds would distract from the game however if for PvP only you were able to have a duel with another player then simply open chat and type /whatevercommandmakessence and then get a log of the damage you caused to the other player it would not distract from the game while dueling. It wouldnt matter if there was a delay between the server and your client as you would pull this information up after you are done with your duel and it would save players a lot of time.

I personally think this is a fantastic idea. It would avoid altering the game experience while still providing us with the information we want/need to help optimize our builds.
