Seems so obvious to add an open PvP system to a game like this.

Did GGG learn nothing from Blizzard disappointing thousands of players with their "brawling" bullshit?
I dont get why their so hesistant to do it either. Just instance invading alone with passworded instances for those that don't want to get pk'd would be the end all be all. Can gather in a channel that people would start to universally recognize or here on the forums. The community builds itself and they'll join instances to pvp all day long for years. Resulting in people pvming,trading..doing everything you want them to socially to build their pvp characters to optimal levels. Theres 0 downside from any angle its so obvious its mind numbing.
