The new map system is utterly annoying

I hope some things change, cause this is is just not fun to interact with.
The more i play the more i hate it.

Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
The more we play the more frustrating it gets.

It almost feels like GGG invented this horrible design choice, to be able to "Sell us quality of life improvements" later as "This is a buff™"
Yeah, this new way of interacting with maps really, really sucks for me.

Whoever came up with the UI seems to have only considered the kind of person who likes to repeat the same one or two map layouts over and over again. I'll admit, this was always probably the most efficient way of mapping, but personally, I found that extremely boring. So what I would do before is prep a tab of maps with a variety of layouts, then slap them in the map device, and go.

Recreating that way of playing in the new map device is impossible, short of trying to memorise where 100+ little circles are located amongst the atlas map, so I would know which ones to go to and which to avoid because I don't like them. Even then, I still now have to make a conscious choice to do layout X, I have no way of getting a "random" selection of maps to run.

Not sure how to fix this. I see two options, potentially, either of which would at least give back some of the lost freedom:

- Massively overhaul the UI; give us a drop-down list of maps with names to pick from, add the names to the atlas map, something, anything to avoid having to try and learn the placement of all the maps every league.

- Give us an optional way to change the "generic" map item into a "specific" map item, and then let us put those specific ones into the map device as before. This preserves the whole "maps are always able to be all within a tier" idea, but allows for more preferred ways of playing.

As things stand I won't be playing this league much; I can't stand repeating the same layout 500 times in a row, and that's the only way this new atlas allows you to grind maps.
bump.

Yes, it sucks.
It sucks bad.

They are taking ideas from the inferior game (poe2) and implementing them in poe1. I do not know why. Do not fix what isn't broken!

This continual march to essentially turn Poe1 into poe2 will lead to player loss. Go Ahead bookmark this for later.

I don't like hearing this kinda stuff.

I was disgusted with mirrage, but I had bought poe2 before mirrage to have merchant
tabs during the league. I did eventually intend to play poe2 and was happy to
sponsor the project, but I wanted to play mirrage.

this is the beauty. I was so disgusted by the atlas system that I quit league
at lvl 72 the lowest ive ever left a league. guess what I did? started grinding
poe2!!!!! and im almost done campaign and GUESS WHATS COMMING?! yea.

I realize now.... uh..... ooohhh..... hahhhhheeeuuuhhh..

this is poe2s endgame atm.

that being said, I do like poe2s campaign in a lot of ways. I love the timing of
skills and the slower movement spead leading to position and timing being more
critical to survival and dps. I will begin criticising poe2 as soon as I am able,
but as yet during campaign, I see good product. is endgame really that bad? (poe2)
+1, map system ui needs a rework, first season I dont finish my atlas cause its so gross
I got quite a bit of eye strain/headaches while progressing my atlas.
I really dislike clicking around on all the little tiny blue dots to find the next un-run map in the tier I'm doing at that moment. and searching and locating unique maps is even worse.

a simple list of maps, by tier, would be miles better.

Imagine sinking dozens of hours into a new custom UI only to be out performed by a listbox.

I felt dumb when I was not able to open a Chronicle for Alva temple or same with the elder guardians until I understood the system.

They definetly need to do more explaining if even players with many hours questioning the functionality of the system.
