The new map system is utterly annoying

After the newest update - 3.28, there are some change to the map device. I know that change is prone to happen, but atals, the new map device brings nothing but trouble and struggle, to the point it start getting irritated, at least to me.

Let's compare the new map device with the old one
Old device
To play map, you open the device, slam the map in and click play
To check Maven progress, hover over the map one by one, which is neatly arranged in the stash.
No error, no warning, no message.

New device
To play map, you open the device, click on those tiny dots, slam the map in and finally play
To check Maven progress, you have to move the mouse all over the place through each and every tiny dot to see if it's Maven'ed or not. And if you happen to have some work while checking, it's very possible that you'll forget what the heck did you just check and you'll have to go around again.
To play a unique map, you'll have to look for that specific map in the atlas, and even then there are some map node that's not allow me to insert the map thingy in ! What the heck, I have the map, I want to play it. It's just a tier 10 map, for god's sake.

In summary, with the new device:
There are maps that I cannot insert anywhere in the atlas nodes to play
There are atlas nodes that I cannot insert any map into it to play
There are "this area does not accept map item" and "this device require a map" message in the same node, like a joke

And what's worse, you can open the same interface as the map device by pressing G but you can't do anything with that interface at all. You know what, i accidentaly pressed G and I thought I'm using the map device so the map slot won't open no matter what I click, while i'm thinking that I haven't clicked the correct tiny dot in the atlas so i tried my best to move the mouse pixel by pixel to click, to no avail. It's VERY ANNOYING.

To be honest, I welcome any change that will improve the QoL, but this change is not improving QoL. It's a decrease of the QoL.

Please, give me back the old map device, or address these points
Or at least let me choose whether i want to use the new interface or not.

I agree. I like the new progression system, but the way they implemented it is bad.

Needs to be faster and simpler to interact with atlas.
For everything except normal maps (due to diffenet types) and alva temples (due to preview feature) you can just right-click the map/key/fragment and it'll auto-socket it into the atlas. Right-click, not control-click.
I have the same thoughts that this map device sucks. They tried to implement it somewhat similar to poe2 but it sucks there too.

What's the point of hiding the nodes? It's static anyway. If it's not static, what's the point of randomizing it?

Please bring back to old map device, add some button that opens the atlas where we choose which map to run. Or some drop down that lists out the maps. The current implementation is too convoluted.
An obvious reduction in QOL and obstruction of progress.

zero play testing obviously. like they think they can sell a toilet
seat with a 2 inch hole in it. no one has a dump bigger than 2 inches wide
right? should be fine.

typical out to lunch needless buggery of a well functioning system.

I bought poe2 partly for the acompanying merchant tabs.

not sure ill be using them this league. about ready to quit league.
this league is good for poe2, and d4, and all the others.

because you have failed ggg. gj on poe2 tho.

Agree, the UI/UX experience of new atlas is terrible. I'm warming up to the 'any normal map goes anywhere' smoothness (although I enjoyed hunting down/selling specific maps NGL) but actually interacting with this new device is a gigantic step in the wrong direction.
Yes, this new system is completely annoying, and from a usability standpoint a downgrade in every way.

Before the change, when we opened the map tab to grab a map, we knew everything, what it is, the completion status, and Maven status. Grab, roll, go. Never really had to even bother opening the convoluted Map Screen other than to place void stones, set preferred maps, and check/verify Div card drops.

Now, when we open the map tab to grab a map, we don't know anything. We don't know what the map needs to be, because we don't know the completion or Maven status. And it's no longer grab, roll, go. It's grab, roll, scroll-and-hover all over the damn place, which gets worse as more maps are completed. And the supposed QOL of remembering the last map ran with the map placement UI open, is annoying as all get out when trying to do Atlas completion and/or maps for Maven. Have to close the UI before we can even scroll-and-hover to find the node where we need to place the map.

The new map device is not an improvement at all.
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
I'd say what I really think, but some mod would just remove my post again.

Just think of the worst thing you think I could say about it, sprinkle it with expletives, then double down on it when you think you have enough.

-7/10
