Remove Kingsmarch as a core mechanic

It is not about my interaction with it. I play a lot so this does not affect me, but the mechanic does not benefit casual players in any way as this is is just predatory game design with questionable returns IF you're a casual (target audience?)

Bad design is still bad even if avoidable. I feel like this is just a hollow take "Just don't do x if you don't want x"

As a casual I strongly disagree. Kingsmarch is one of the better mechanics. You don't like it, you can ignore it. I ignore delve and heist entirely, both are just annoying for me. But I am not asking for them to be removed.

I would like to say this again just so other people don't reply with the same take. This is not about me or players like me, I play a lot, I have no problem keeping the town running.
The issue is that the mechanic places ongoing management and economic pressure on players even if they don’t want to engage with it, which makes it different from other opt-in systems.

Actually it doesn't. If I do not have time to play, then well... Kingsmarch will come to a standstill. Not a problem. Its not like I will find starved workers when I return. It simply needs you to not chase that "I have to..." wheel, and that anyone can do.

Kingsmarch is a lot more different than let's say heist. If you don't want to run blueprints you can sell them but nothing you can do with the gold other than respec and buy stuff so if you play normally and you generate the gold the town turns it into rewards.

It sounds like you don't want to do it but you still want the rewards from it. But since you don't want to do it you want it removed so nobody can have the rewards from it. Got it.

Given how much gold you spent when you buy items, there are too many gold sinks, in my opinion.

I honestly have the impression that some people would like Kingsmarch removed, because it generates passive income for players who know how to handle it.

Just curious, has GGG ever removed a mechanic from core, after making it core?

Yeah, Prophecy comes to mind.

-Prophecy
-Metamorph
-Perandus

Propably a few other, less known mechanics too.

They became outdated and replaced with better things over time.

I'm surprised that ghosts are still in the game and they still want to make them work somehow. I would just axe them completely and integrate Sentinel as a core mechanic instead. It is much better and does pretty much the same thing (making monsters harder and more rewarding). Right now we have a lousy 8% chance to get some random ass sentinel in our maps that can't be supported in any way. But those stupid ghosts can.
I strongly agree with OP.

While i love getting alot of currency from shipments, I'd rather see the loot in maps as i kill stuff, than locked behind kingsmarch mobile game.

FOMO gets me hard. Every league after settlers my main strat is to find a strategy that generates uniques and gold just to dust. And because of my limited time i end up just doing just that strategy to keep kingmsarch online and almost nothing else. Heck, last 2 leagues ive played till the last day, doing gold farming till the very end. It wasn't fun. It was a chore.

I wish i could have played different strategy, but GGG balanced gold in such an awful way that if you have limited time you either you play the juicy gold farm endgame strat, or you dont generate enough gold to keep kingsmarch going.

People saying "you can just ignore kingsmarch". That's ignorant take. FOMO, at least for me, feels like im falling. Not pleasant and pushes me to a burnout, where i'd rather quit the game completely to avoid the feeling, than try fight it.

i tried to ignore kingsmarch this league but
sending 20k zantium and get 1-4 divs back is hard to ignore.
also gold just piles up and i can't spend it elsewhere other than async trade.

(snip)

I'm sorry for nitpicking, also for derailing the thread, but afaik Perandus (Version 2.2) didn't go core at all, so it could never have been removed from the core game. (Next league was Prophecy , Ver. 2.3, btw.)
relax - it's just ones and zeros!
