Remove Kingsmarch as a core mechanic

The only saving grace of this dumpster fire of a league is that at least Kingsmarch is picking up the slack where the rest of the game is failing.

Don't coat your opinions with some false magnanimity or speak for someone else by proxy.

If you actively buy uniques to get dust. If you try to figure out what is the best dust crop ratio...hell, you are baited so hard in a loop of bad game design. I wasted my fair share of time with it. It is rock bottom gameplay. You might aswell run a medievil town on your phone or something lol. It is also a matter of taste and class. Do you really want this in your game?

There is this script that was posted like 10 years ago. I'm currently using it on firefox, and it works very well. It has improved my experience with the forums greatly.

What's easier to do?

1) Buff gigantic masses of terrible laughable underperforming ignored endgame unique items, including virtually all of the weapons
2) Design, code, and manage an elaborate town building management simulator in which unique items are fed to an NPC to turn into something used to fund shipments elsewhere through another interface

Clearly the devs have chosen #2 over #1.

That's the real joke here, that 99%+ of the uniques in the game now are nothing more than dust fodder. Not even an average "poor" player will look at using them in a build.
I love Kingsmarch. Love the looks, love the music, getting my boat back is super exciting. If you don't like it, don't interact with it, simple as that..

Why is Kingsmarch a bad mechanic?

1. No ARPG elements
2. Upkeep & time-sinking - I am not looking forward to waking up and going to Kingsmarch to check my mappers and boats and send out new ones. I am playing an ARPG, not a mobile game.
3. Disconnected from the *FUN* core loop of Path of Exile
4. Accessibility - I can see Kingsmarch being a decent mechanic for casual players, but I don't see how casual players that play 1-2 hours a day can get enough gold to manage a maxed out town?

Why is it a good mechanic (from GGG's perspective)?

1. The nature of the mechanic's design boosts playtime (Is this really a bonus in a free to play game where the company makes their sales at the beginning of the league?)
2. Progress loop (similar to point 1) making players FEEL rewarded when they come to check town, creating a psychological hook to keep players playing
3. Innovative? (again, zero ARPG elements)


Adjustments can be made to make the mechanic feel better I suppose, but this will always remain the worst mechanic that you are forced to do. I will not provide any suggestions on how to improve this mechanic as players generally cannot provide good solutions, according to game developers at least.


1. You get to play maps with atlas tree specific to farm gold or resources for this mechanic, also there are events that could happen during kingsmarch activities. You can modify which resources to farm and ship for the target reward you want. How can you say there’s no action or role play in all of these?
2. That’s just your take and personal pref, not everyone plays 8 hours a day so they can have some loots.
3. Fun by what standard? Your or the dev that decided to add this feature? It’s not like the game gatekeep anything from you with this unfun mechanic like ascendancy trial in poe2.
4. Speak for yourself, this mechanic extremely profitable for casual that want to invest a little bit of time to learn and farm. You can have gold service in game or farm with cheap scarabs, 1~2 hours is enough to last a day. If the town is maxed out then at that stage players can afford to farm gold with advance strat.

I found the mechanic very confusing and completely out of place in PoE. I didn't play the league at all associated with it. It takes you out of a gameplay loop to play one of these mobile games or browser games where you collect stuff and order stuff with a timer attached to it.

Kingsmarch and expedition feel the worst when it comes to gameplay for me.
