Except for the fact that exp loss adds 0 depth or complexity to the game. All it does is delete your time and force you to spend another X amount of hours getting the exp you lost back. For no reason.

Exp loss on death isn't as mystical and deep as people make it out to be. It really, really isn't.

Did you know, that if you don't die, you will never lose xp on death?

if you wanted to play a game that is incredibly simple then poe is just not your game i reckon.

Pob is a whole new game thats adjacent to poe. You can spend hours and hours there and its quite enjoyable.

Its also not a spread sheet, it has a ui that hides most of the equations and outputs mostly important data.

Just because you are new to the game and don't know the ins and outs of it in 1-2 leagues doesn't mean that system/design is bad.

Also poe isnt some, minimize time investment, maximize profit game. That is how sctrade people play but they generally will have 5k hours in the game and not know 1/100th of how the game works because their brain knows nothing but zoom and fubgun/kobe videos.

Poe is a complicated highly intricate masterpiece that allows you to learn for years and years and thats the beauty of it.

If you only played for 2 years its normal for you to not know a lot.

Well that’s exactly my point, it’s a very complex game but the transition from the tutorial campaign to the endgame content is almost non existence in poe. For example in poe2, every game mechanic or term is underlighted you can press Alt and hover over it to read for futther detail, it makes the game more bearable for new comers, unless you want to say that this game is only for nolife vet hardcore gamers then speak for yourself, if that’s true GGG would never make poe 2.

See, you're charactarizing a person with knowledge as a no life vet hardcore gamer. You do that (i think) because you can't accept how little you know about this game.
You have to understand its fine to feel like a noob after 2-3 years in poe.

What if i told you that poe2 was more geared towards no life gamers? Because it is. Poe1 is 1000x more friendly to ssf casual players. While poe2 caters to people who have infinite time.

Poe is poe because of its complexity. If you don't like complexity there is always d3 where blizzard buffs/nerfs every patch to dictate everyones build. You could also play a game like fortnite where all you need is reflexes and hand/eye coordination. there is nothing to grind. Keep in mind, GGG stands for GRINDING GEAR GAMES.

Also, if you don't understand the game you can find build guides and just follow them without deviations. You don't have to know anything. but playing the game with 30k ehp will never be fun. Even if they removed the death penalty.

Learn up, reflect on your own knowledge of the game. Get better, and you will learn to enjoy not dying.
Its funny to see People coming here whinning that poe should be a story mode game. They are in the wrong game.

Perhaps it’s your personal reference, but as a casual player myself (2 hours gameplay average a day) the fact that you need 2+ years of gameplay to acquire and accumulate knowledge before you can proclaim that you are competent at playing the game is self proven of my point that you need to dedicate huge amount of time just to know what you needed to know in the endgame, and that to me is play the game as hardcore. But that is off topic, isn’t it weird that my amount of knowledge has anything to do with the game not providing a smooth learning experience as you go deeper? And why are you keep suggesting other games to me? How do you know what I like and dislike? Kinda strawman don’t you think? Am I not allowed to like something about the game and not for other things?

If dying is a problem, then the game should at least hint at the solution or how to acquire that for players, that is the new players welcome approach. If the does’t do that the it’s bad in design, wasting time for the sake of wasting time, and this will be tackled by the dev one way or another. How do I know that? They implemented the market system didn’t they? Same principle, saving people’s time and making playing smoothly. But I bet you are also against the market if death penalty is the hill you are willing to die on.
