0.3 support gem changes opinions.
Hey there! What are you oppinions about the 0.3 support gem changes ? I mean especially the one where they potentialy remove that you can only equip one gem of each type. In my opinion it was really cool and made you think where you put that power, yeah it was restrictive but not that much, now everyone will just pop the same supports everywhere, these especially strange on minion builds you. I think they should keep this restriction. The support gem levels are good tho, if the game starts to drop lvl 3 supports earlier a bit. Oppinions?

IF the leaks are true (we'll find out in a few hours), the changes seem to push for more build variety I'd think. Combine that with the "new" gems, I'm excited to see what they bring.

I dont see any build variety here, everyone using the same 5 support gems in every skill is not variety...it almost sounds fake to me.

Some of the lineage support gems look mandatory to me; same for the cookie cutter regular ones.
Will probably lead to more skills becoming scalable past baby levels. The question I have is whether the game was rebalanced following those changes, because if not, then we will have a repeat of 0.1 where every boss (pinnacles included) was a trash mob. |

" FIRST: It makes 90% of the support gems useless. Right now the "diversity" of builds lies in the fact, that when you run out of "good gems", you start adding "situational gems" or "synergy gems", or "utility" so you can complete your build. SECOND: Balance issue for weapon skills. Say you play crossbow. If you have unlimited support gems. What is stopping you from adding Ballista to every single crossbow build? Absolutely nothing. Added X damage? Free. Concentrated effect for more damage? Free. Duration support? free. It is complete bullshit. They will have to deal with this for the next few patches. Edit: Ballista scale with two handed mod, ranged damage, etc. Stuff that you will be stacking for any crossbow build. THIRD: Balance issues within the build choices. Say you are warrior. You have 3 physical skills. Since you will be sticking "MORE PHYSICAL" to all of them, all of them will be pre-nerfed from GGG part, so they do not over-perform. So basically from 5 sockets, you will be forced to play effectively with 4 (or even less), because the skill damage will be hard locked and practically force you to stick the "MORE PHYSICAL" in every single one of them. There is no fixing this... Last edited by Skellymancer#5263 on Aug 20, 2025, 8:32:49 AM

" Exactly my point, and also it forces a rework for Gemling since that passive is completely useless and pointless with such a change. |

" This guy, bread and butter, was the ability to play with more than one skill. Want to throw 5 gas grenades, and then 5 explosive? SURE! Go Gemling... Right now you can do this with a freaking sorc. The change is crap anyway! And kills unique ascendancy in the process... |

" You do realise that you are saying that 90% of support gems are useless right now and they are only being used cuz players dont have a choice. Which is why many players cant be bothered to go for skill rotation setups cuz the 2nd and 3rd setup wont deal significant dmg for a lack of good supports anyways. This has always been the primary fault with the current implementation. So this change would make sense, if GGG wants to promote multiskill setups. |

" I might no agree with this because what we've seen so far is 1 single skill, max 2 well synergized/designed doing enough damage to 1 shot bosses without using the same support gem. Most skills are just bad and this is a shortcut to make them slightly better without considering the core of the problem, which is the fact that they are just bad in the first place. We need synergies, not martial tempo n stuff everywhere. Last edited by IILU81II#8410 on Aug 20, 2025, 9:02:51 AM
