0.3 support gem changes opinions.
" Welcome to PoE ^^ GGG wont ever balance the game in way that all skills are equally good. Thats never been the goal and doesnt even make sense with their business model in mind to begin with. They will rotate skills in and out to shake up the meta as they see fit for any given league instead. It is what it is. |

" In your view they are "useless". But people are using them. Allow me to explain. On my witch hunter, during the first campaign run, I make my gas grenades corrosive. And then use this as benefit to my other skill. If I am allowed to use all supports, I will not make them corrosive, because the damage I get from FULL DPS investment will match and exceed the benefit of utility gems that I put inside. (In fact, I will use exactly the same support gems, on all my skills.) This totally kills build diversity, it doesn't enable it. Scatter shot > Concentrated Effect > Added X/Primal/physical/elemental focus. This is more more more more more more damage. Why would anyone bother with anything else? |

Now it comes to my mind.
If I stick the same DPS setup on all my grenades, and use the payload support in all of them, so they activate twice... The cooldown wont be a problem, because I will rotate between them... This could be very good broken rainbow build. |

" No, you won't use the same support gem for every skill - it is either impossible and/or not optimal. Skills have different tags, properties, damage and coversion types. It doesn't kill build diversity, but it doesn't expand it either. That can be done with lineage supports, some of which are rumoured to affect skills in a more fundamental way than regular ones. |

" It doesn't seem like it. I mean.. All grenades are aoe. All of them have fuse. All of them can activate a second time. And most supports are not limited to specific damage type: Primal Armament is "elemental" Elemental focus is "elemental". Concentrated effect is "AOE". "Payload" means double activation for all. Scattershot affects all projectiles. Sure it would be borderline stupid to negate your fire damage with "brutality" or "added cold". But there are enough gems that are general enough, to affect "elemental" or "physical" multiplicators, and specific weapon and damage types, say "projectile" or "AOE". This is neither impossible, nor suboptimal. |

This is a nonsensical argument.
You would never create a build around 'all' grenades, unless you're talking about low level campaign sort of stuff in which case go ham - it doesn't matter, it's baby content that requires no optimisation whatsoever. |

" I mean, why not? In patch 0.1.0, some gemlings were leveling using explosive and gas granades, socketing the same supports in both of them... Why not expand this to all grenade types, and double activation means double damage? Do you see any specific problems with this, or you dislike the idea of grenade plays? |
