Yeah, I think there's some underlying issues here that have nothing to do with XP penalty lol.

All that really needs to be done is a checkmark added when creating a character for "exp loss on" just like HC and SSF. Or a toggle for exp loss being on/off in the settings menu. This would fix this entire problem and everyone would be happy:

People that enjoy losing the time they invested into the game as if its some 2000s ancient game can have fun with exp loss on, and people that want to play a fun game can disable it. Everybody wins.

This mechanic is outdated, and the only reason its in the game is "because d2 had it". No other reason.

Oh! That's right! You finally get it now! Yes—this isn’t just about the XP penalty.

The real issue is that some things in this game are way too outdated and need to be brought up to speed with the modern age. I never imagined even a small issue like the XP penalty would be blocked by such a thick wall. lol

The patch that let currency items be automatically deposited into the currency stash tab—that was in 3.12, right? You remember how much people loved that quality-of-life change?

I remember people watching the announcement and saying, “Finally, welcome to the 21st century!”

That’s what I want. Fixing the old, worn-out parts of this game—just like they did with the stash tab patch.

XP is just one of those parts. A 10% death penalty just doesn’t match the way people play games nowadays.

It’s only okay for people who’ve gotten used to this older game.

I already said: completely removing the penalty would be a bad idea. If you lose nothing when you die, the tension disappears and the game gets boring. You’d probably fall asleep while playing.

And if that’s the kind of game I wanted, I’d be playing Diablo 3 instead—which is already famous for being a sleeping pill.

Same logic here: removing the XP penalty causes boredom, but 10% loss causes rage.

Why should anyone feel angry while playing such a fun game? Let’s tweak it just enough so we can enjoy POE without falling asleep or losing our temper.

Is that really so hard to understand?

Glad I could be helpful, my friend. But it's a shame you won't be talking to me anymore. You're not afraid I might dig up more posts where you belittle others, are you?"

I hope you'll learn how to actually have conversations instead of dismissing people. AI just told me your message was sarcastic.

Amazing, huh? 21st-century tech! Seems like you’ve still got a lot to learn—maybe it’s time to stop raising pigeons and step outside to see how the world’s actually spinning. Got it?
If I was this perturbed by a function or mechanic in a game, I would find another game to invest in, personally.

"Just go play another game" isn't helpful feedback. This is the feedback forum, and players unhappy with how such an outdated mechanic as exp loss is deleting their time and progress are giving their feedback. And its clear the majority would be happy if this mechanic was deleted, this is a fact.

No thanks. Hard pass. The game is actually designed with exp loss in mind - if death has absolutely zero consequences then no one needs to build defenses either. GGG doesn't want everyone to get free level 100's either.

You're not getting an easy mode checkbox.

I've already given positive and helpful feedback. OP doesn't appear to be receptive which is where this point came from.

So upon reaching level 100 you just remove all defenses from your character since the penalty is gone right?
