How Secrets of the Atlas Launch Went

Well, it's Tuesday and you still haven't fixed this. I'm going to log onto PoE2 and see if it works, why do I have a feeling it will? Yes, imagine that PoE2 works flawlessly color me shocked *eye roll*

It's almost as if Poe1 and PoE2 are running on different servers, and the attackers are only hitting the PoE1 ones! :O
Never one to write a lot of posts, but this launch has hurt me. It has hurt my love for the game and for my expectations for what to expect from you as a company.

It's almost five days since league has launched, the servers are still unstable causing me and my fellow Europe players to get kicked out from our instances, rubberband or simply freeze for too long to get killed in maps.

I'll think back to this league launch the next time I'm thinking about buying another supporter pack.
can you implement, that we don't lose our maps if we were disconnected because of server issues?

It's not. While 0.2 was released and EU servers being crashed - POE1 servers being crashed in the same time too. GGG promised that they've developed more proper server infrastructure, POE2 servers will be different from POE1 and capacity of servers be increased. What we see? They've lied :(

It's not a problem for them to say something really important and just ignore it after community forgot about it. That's sad
Not completely walking back my previous post, but they could have a hardware issue. A port or ports flapping under load at a critical connection point could have very similar symptoms. If such things can be over looked @ billion dollar companies then it could be missed in much smaller companies as well.

Port flapping is an easy thing to look for, though, especially if it's suspected to happen on a critical one. Checking the physical parts of the infrastructure is usually the first step of troubleshooting something like this. Protecting yourself from DDoS attacks is very difficult, especially if the attackers are dedicated.
Yeah, it's always a DDOS for some reason. Hmmmm.....

I am somewhat having fun due to weird economy, but you guys REALLY need to check wtf is going on with eu servers. This is not a new issue and it seemingly never improves.

It started happening multiple leagues ago. There are many posts about this, many of us post tracerts and pretty much everything we can think of in order to help but I don't think we ever got a reply about it.

It's not only about instance crashes. Sometimes when we play on let's say Frankfurt, the game runs on normal 20-25ms. Then completely randomly, it starts spiking to 300ms every few seconds and we cannot fix it. Reconnecting from a different gateway doesn't help because your hideout instance has to time out afaik just like a normal zone, so it stays on that unusable server. Sometimes while we are mapping, for no specific reason the same happens, it starts spiking making the map borderline unclearable.

I personally tried this on 4 different PCs at 3 different ISPs at 2 different cities, and it keeps happening regardless of what I'm doing.

It's not only frankfurt gateway. Happens too on London, Amsterdam, Milan as well. Paris seems to be working for now. EU servers in the past few years(multiple) are so incredibly bad that some of my friends just play on Texas or Moscow with significantly higher ping because at least those are stable.

Just so you know if you swap hideouts you can force a new instance on the different gateway.
What I don't understand about the DDoS attacks is how they are targeted. Is GGG's European server infrastructure specifically being targeted, or is it collateral from other attacks targeted at European infrastructure? I haven't noticed the same in Last Epoch, for example..

Also, why target GGG and why Europe? This has been a thing for both PoE1 and PoE2. I seriously have no clue as to why. It doesn't make any sense..

Yep agreed. However, just because it is easy does not mean it is done. Been there, seen that.
