How to play a game which lives from trades and people who won´t trade?
Regarding heist: you need to right click one of the coins you got. That opens a portal to the Rogue Harbor, where all of Heist takes place. This is explained by the Heist NPC when you first encounter them, but you likely skipped the text (like most people do)

Play SSF.

" This. Don't sleep on Incursion. It can be farmed on any map tier and complete temples can be sold for maximum profit. This is my go-to strategy even for league start as everyone has a need for T3 corruption and T3 gem rooms. " Absolutely not this. This is a game centered largely around trading with people, and items are intentionally made difficult to get in order to encourage this. Don't shoot yourself in the foot. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. Last edited by Pizzarugi on Sep 17, 2024, 9:09:44 AM

Honestly what I'd say to a new player is make use of Faustus as much as you can, you don't even need a premium stash tab to make hundreds of chaos anymore. All you need to do is spec into scarab drop nodes on the atlas tree and pick some kind of easy farming strat in your fav t16 like strongboxes, wait a bit for scarabs to accumulate, vendor useless ones/ones you know you won't need and sell the expensive ones through faustus. This is how I made a lot of my chaos early in the league since most of the scarabs were over 2c each. Even now you can just check which ones are a lot by ctrl clicking them on his interface and picking "I want chaos orbs" and just only sell him the big ticket ones which you will get from vendoring scarabs 3 to 1. Sometimes I made like 700 chaos from 1 scarab vendoring and selling session, making currency is so much better now I barely ever sell actual gear on trade, I just use faustus.
Also definitely don't play ssf, that's not a solution to how bad trading is lol I suspect Faustus will become a full-on AH with every item and uniques later on. Last edited by Toforto on Sep 17, 2024, 9:34:32 AM

i think if you need to trade in order to function in endgame running maps and the items you need cost more than you have found then youve done something wrong, and by that i mean youre playing the wrong build or the build wrong.
you should be able to level to maps and then run maps relatively effectively without needing to trade for anything. its all very well discussing money making strats but in order to do them you need a functioning build, being able to play the game without needing to buy items is the foundation you need to be able to get the currency to then buy items. people who know what theyre doing can play a build that requires an item they will need to trade for but will also know how to generate the funds for it reliably. if i was ever playing a build that needed trade items i would have worked out a variant that worked without those items and i would be playing that until i got those items. i cant rly think of a build achitype i have played that i wouldnt feel confident putting together a levelling day 1 league version that could get to red maps without needing anything i couldnt find myself, and i feel like i could make enough chaos to buy basic gear just running white maps anyway. like people have said stuff like scarabs are worth money, essences, fosils, basic currencies, youre always finding stuff you can trade into chaos and i dont think you really need more than 10, 20, 30 chaos of gear to make basic builds work to a point where you can then pick a farm strat and start grinding divines worth of currency needed to get fancy gear. a build shouldnt need fancy gear to function, the fancy version of it may be specced in a way where it doesnt function without that gear but there should be a way to play the build in a very basic grab life + damage and get gear with resists + life + damage fashion that will crush white tier maps where getting a stack of 30 chaos from selling what drops shouldnt take more than a few hours surely? |

" Yeah you're right, if you leveled through the campaign and your build can't function without specific items that are expensive then you probably got baited into some kind of bad leaguestarter. It's kinda hard to sift through all the ones on youtube and trying to find actual good starters that aren't over a mirror with insane pobs lol, the build I play only requires a Taryn's Shiver which is like 1c and 1 alch later in the league(though honestly I could just use 2 wands with good spell damage mods and be just fine, I just like that unique staff), that plus a random corrupted 6-link can carry me to red maps and I just farm the rest of the currency for all my gear later on with either scarab selling or sanctum.
" I still think the easiest way is to do blighted maps. As a father I don't have that much time to play but I still make 10 Div a day by just running about 15 maps a day. I know that this is nothing compared to some >10 Div per hour strategies but you can do this with almost every crap build and you only have to add a few cheap sacrifice frags and that's it. German saying: Schönheit und Funktionalität in Sekundenschnelle zu ruinieren, ist dem wahren Dilettanten keine Herausforderung!

The solution is absolutely playing ssf. The amount of learning you do in sctrade is very limited. You will only learn whenever the hurdle seems impossible.
In sctrade all you have to do is level to maps and farm essences till you get a mirror. Its that easy, if you play ssf you will be forced to learn more about the game. |

" This thread wasn't even talking about "learning the game", it was just someone complaining that trading sucks, and it does indeed suck. So no, playing ssf just because the trade website is full of people who never respond isn't a solution. And you learn about the game just fine in sc trade, I've only ever played that mode for 5700 hours and it only took me a few leagues to get all the basic stuff down. I couldn't imagine myself ever playing ssf, it's just slower and more annoying to do anything and you're extremely limited in what builds you can play, so not fun. Same reason why many people don't touch ruthless kek
You don't have to interact with trade outside of small currency exchanges (this is easy now) and super rare items like mb/ralakesh/DoD/hh if you know how to play the game in ssf.
If you guys want to be potatoes and think you have to buy every piece of gear that your character has, then you need to just learn how to play the game or quit complaining about it. Trade isn't required for anything. outside of t0 uniques. You can absolutely do anything on your own in this game. I don't think you know a whole lot about the game. Werent you complaining about getting 1 shot on all the bosses not too long ago. Last edited by Lonnie455Rich on Sep 17, 2024, 2:02:38 PM
