Mac OSX Ventura - item with the same name already exists error - SOLVED

1. Run the "Path of exile" app and let it shows the error
Now, the icon appears in the dock. Close the error message.

2. Go to the folder mentioned in the posts before.
user/username/library/application support/path of exile

3. Delete 2 icons in the folder with the name:
Path of Exile.app!
Path of Exile.app

4. Click the Path of Exile icon in the dock.

Now, I can update the game.

I have this issue but I don't have the folder mentioned. Even searched the entire mac for "Path of Exile.app" and there is nothing.

I've checked both on the Macontish HD\Library and also Macontish HD\Users\User\Library and it's in neither of those.

Would love some help, just wanna grind PoE all day on christmas ^^

Edit: I found it... wasn't looking in application support.

I deleted "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile.app!.app" and restart the game
it works without reinstalling
@vBird519 your solution worked for me as well, no need to delete the entire folder
Thanks Quotez77
you solution is perfect, wondered why it happen, so simple to fix any way. Developer need to work harder in programming skill.

Thanks, this worked for me too without having to redownload the entire 32 GB!

Hard to believe it's nearly half a year later and basic autopatching still doesn't work :(

I am also having the same problem.

i deleted this file "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile.app"

i runed this "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile.app!.app"

my problem solved.

Thanks! in my case i remove two paths and work OK the game.
This solution appears to be working for me. Thanks!

I have to say, it took me way too long to find my library in this: "user/username/library/application support/path of exile."

After a little search I found this:

In Finder, when you click on the Go menu at the top of the screen, “Library” usually isn’t present on the list. But if you hold down the Option key when you click “Go,” “Library” will appear.
