Hey mate, sorry, the crafting instructions on page 1 are outdated - we no longer have that degree of easy control over it D:

Scroll up a few posts and on page 58 - ManaDrained has outlined meta crafting steps he took to make his beast of a helm. Regrettably, it is going to be a very expensive endeavour. However, your helm is going to let you kill everything in the game with plenty of time to spare.

If you wanted to sink in 50+ exalts crafting, I'd suggest you buy a Bottled Faith and make a Frenzy Charge on Hit + Explode Chest instead!

why a bone helmet? is there something i'm missing?
20% minion dmg is the best damage implicit for us since we take spiritual aid. You can use an archdemon crown as base if you want to sub culling strike instead of wave of conviction in cyclone links but you could get culling strike other ways too so up to you. I like bone helm though since you can hit + minion gems or minion damage in later steps to make a godly minion helm to sell if all else fails. Need to try to get a useful enchant on mine but I want the boot enchant anyways so hopefully will get that soon.

there isnt a good way to continue from this point since conc effect is a prefix and the essence mod is a suffix so keeping both on the item and going for other mods won't be possible. The reason to go for hypothermia and the crit first is because they are all suffixes so we can use reroll keeping suffixes after that point without any chance of ruining the item.

Also it's probably a good idea to upgrade a bunch of other things before worrying about the helmet imo. cluster jewels unnatural instinct leadership's price awakened spell cascade etc

Fire damage + cast speed + crit multi when rare or unique is nearby is ideal mods for staff. You can’t ignite because leadership’s price. Spell damage isn’t good because it doesn’t scale corpse explosion damage.

IceCold nailed it, that's the absolute BiS Cane for the build since rares are so common now.

The ABSOLUTE BIS would be a nutty 5/6 T1 Staff but only one exists right now and I'm hiding it in my stash in case I ever get the currency to finish it.

Given how rare the fire staff is though, grab one fast before I release the showcase. League is dead but I think this build may interest enough people because it's so deathly efficient / tanky / bursty and relatively cheap for its power level and flexibility.


It's also kinda different from all the other builds out there.

A good spell damage one would also work, by the way. You spend 96% of the time killing monsters with the spell portion of Volatile Dead and about 2-3 seconds on the map boss - don't kill yourself over not being able to land a Fire Damage staff.

Need your help theorycrafting.

So a mate in SSF asked if Soulwrest could be used to sub the staff.

I realised then that the staff itself wasn' HORRIBLE for this build - 140% Spell Damage, 30% Cast Speed, 100% mana regen. It's no Cane of Kulemak, but it realistically only drops 40% DPS from our very powerful build.

That's when I realised

If we sac the glove slot for Triad Grip, the phantasms will do full fire damage.

The supports in the staff (ditching our helm) could be:


Arcanist Brand - VD - + Woke Spell Cascade (no effect on Phantas)

+

Elemental Penetration + Fire Penetration + Hypothermia

We end up with about the same power level as a 6L helm for VD, BUT 4L Phantasms that do pure fire damage (immortal call - increased duration - CWDT - aww fuck. Ball Lightning in white socket? Or some fast hitting Red spell?)

Between Scorch, Brittle and Flammability, the minions could actually pack a little punch that will bring the damage closer to a Cane in an SSF environment.

I do believe a full 30% Scorch can be considered a damage link so it's 5L Phantasms. Brittle is by itself already a big juicy boost.

Does this all check out?

Still looking for the cane w/ all the stats
am using this atm, but man this league is so dead haven't even seen the staff show up on trade.
